GVF has an exciting new opportunity for someone who is passionate about agriculture and technology. In the role of* IT Support Specialist*, you will get to work with technology on a couple different levels. You will not only support the business by maintaining its technology internally for employees, but you will also focus on Livestock Business Intelligence which involves enhancing on-farm technology for our customers.
The future of livestock production is taking a shift towards the Calculator and Integrative producers who are farming on a larger scale with more data. The GVF group of companies provides a unique service to our customers through data and interpretation to better help decision making based on real data. In your role, you will develop your IT skills and gain further experience on monogastric herd management tools. You will be the primary line of IT support for GVF employees and the primary line for the GVF help desk for swine focused customers.

What you’ll do: *
- Provide timely daily desktop support to all employees across the GVF group of companies.
- Make sure all IT related support requests and issues are handled and resolved.
- Assist with desktop and laptop maintenance and configuration, support with other technical assets including printers, and POS terminals.
- Be responsible for new hire system setups and configuration as required.
- Oversee the daily monitoring of backups.
- Assist with general server maintenance and system updates.
- Provide ERP software backup and support.
- Support the IT Manager with network, land line telecommunication systems, and mobile phone, smart phone and GPS tracking devices.
- Be the primary line of support for the help desk, working closely with our partners, customers, sales team leaders and specialists to help fulfill the questions and needs for support for this management system.
- When needed, travel on farm to service accounts.
- Be responsible for the collection, generation, and distribution of raw data for reporting purposes.
- Assist in developing and maintaining new databases.
**Your background includes**:
- Associate Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness or similar field of study
- General understanding of livestock production, specifically when it comes to swine production and metrics
- Willingness to learn about sow production
- In-barn experience is an asset
- A real passion for technology and technological innovation
- Solid computer, hardware and software skills
- Ability to work independently and stay organized while managing multiple projects
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong customer service skills and natural ability to work with people
- Ability to speak Dutch is an asset
**Working with us**:
This is a permanent, full-time position based out of our head office in Cambridge, Ontario. We anticipate that you will spend 70% of your time on IT support and 30% of your time on Business Intelligence Support. Regular working hours for this position are Monday to Friday 9:00am to 6:00pm, however given the nature and responsibilities of the position you may be required to work outside of these hours from time to time.
