**Position Summary**
The **Controller** will oversee and manage the company’s financial operations, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and strategic alignment with organizational objectives. This role involves supervising the accounting team, maintaining robust internal controls, and contributing to strategic decision-making. The **Controller** will also focus on financial planning, reporting, and process improvements to support dynamic company operations.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Accounting Operations**
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of professional growth and operational excellence.
- Oversee monthly **contract accounting** to ensure compliance with revenue recognition standards.
- Manage cash flow operations, including oversight of bank accounts.
**Audit & Compliance**
- Prepare for and facilitate internal and external audits, providing accurate and timely schedules.
- Develop and maintain strong **internal controls** to ensure compliance with **SOX** and company policies.
- Monitor **Balance Sheet** and **P&L** reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy and integrity.
**Strategic Contributions**
- Collaborate on **R&D tax credit claims** with external accountants and senior leadership.
- Drive process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
- Support the development of financial strategies to safeguard company assets and promote long-term growth.
**Required**
**Qualifications and Skills**
**Education & Experience**
- **Bachelor’s Degree** in Finance or Accounting.
- **CPA designation** (required).
- Minimum of **6 years** of relevant experience in finance or accounting roles.
**Skills & Competencies**
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and mentor a team effectively.
- Expertise in managing **Balance Sheets** and **Income Statements**.
- Proven problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Fluency in both **English and French** (oral and written).
**Technical Skills**
- Proficiency in **Oracle SmartView** (preferred).
- Experience in the **Aerospace and Defense industry** (preferred).
**Security and Eligibility Requirements**
- Eligible for registration with the **Controlled Goods Program (CGP)**.
- Ability to obtain and maintain **Government of Canada Reliability Status** and **Secret Level 2 clearance**.
- Must meet **U.S. ITAR compliance** requirements.
