Merlin Plastic Group is looking for a Shunt truck driver who will be in charge of moving trailers from the yard (within the yard, as needed, on and off the docks), scaling in and out all trailers.
The trucks are manual, Class 1 is preferred but not mandatory.
**Responsibilities & Duties**:
- Perform pre-trip/post-trip inspection of the truck and report any defects or damages to the immediate supervisor or foreman
- Perform inspection of every trailer before they are moved.
- Move the shunter/trailer in a safe manner.
- Ensure that no damages are made to tractors/trailers.
- Ensure that every trailer being moved is secured - both doors are closed and door hooks/latches are all hooked up.
- Ensure that trailers are being moved to appropriate docks/yards.
- Ensure that every trailer load requiring weights is properly scaled-in/scaled-out.
- Hookup and drop/unhook trailers in a safe manner.
- Report immediately to the yard/shipping/receiving coordinator or foreman any incidents/accidents that may happen during the movement of the tractor/trailer.
- Ensure that all paperwork required are filled up and submitted to the yard/shipping/receiving coordinator at the end of every shift
- Perform other tasks as may be required by the immediate supervisor or foreman
**Skills and qualifications**:
- Completion of high school
- Licenses - A class 1 license is considered an asset
- Experience - more than 6 months of truck driving
- Ability to drive trucks in tight spaces
- Able to communicate in English
- Able to lift up to 20 lbs
