Pharmacy Technician/pharmacy Assistant

The role of the pharmacy technician/assistant is to assist with the technical functions of dispensing prescriptions, maintain drug inventory, participate in the maintenance and operations of the pharmacy and provide optimal customer service.

**Responsibilities and Duties**
- Practice within federal/provincial, regulatory/legal requirements, provincial Code of Ethics, Standards of Practice, and Policies, demonstrating professional integrity and acting to uphold a high level of professional standard of practice
- Assist the pharmacist with prescription data entry, processing and packaging
- Assess prescriptions for clarity, completeness, authenticity and legal requirements
- Manage blister packaging preparation, billing and accuracy and enroll new patients as required
- Promote customer loyalty and satisfaction through patient-centric pharmacy services
- Compound non-sterile pharmaceutical products when necessary, including measuring correct quantities of drugs and other ingredients to fulfill prescriptions
- Communicate with other health care professionals within the circle of care to provide optimal patient care
- Contact insurance providers when required
- Ensure accurate adjudication and billing of prescriptions
- Provide timely and positive resolutions to patient needs and requests from other healthcare providers
- Promote pharmacy campaigns, programs and services as appropriate
- Refer patients to the pharmacist for consultation when required
- Maintain pharmacy inventory
- Manage medication deliveries
- Ensure proper preparation, packaging, distribution and storage of all inventory
- Manage methadone preparation in line with the applicable policies and guidelines
- Actively contribute to a positive and productive work environment

**Qualifications and Skills**
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to empathize with, consult, and assist patients about their medications
- Strong ethical sense and trustworthiness
- Commitment to providing exceptional customer service
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking skills
- Organizational skills and strong attention to detail to ensure medications are dispensed safely and appropriately
- Prioritize activities quickly in response to changing initiatives
- Superior customer relations skills and a strong sense of professionalism
- Strong personal computing skills and knowledge of Pharmacy systems
- Self-directed and able to work independently to meet strict deadlines
- Ability to be a team player in a fast-paced environment
- Able to operate equipment such as computers, scan guns, tablet counters, and cash registers

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Weekend availability
