Heads Up Plant Protectants Inc. is a family-owned company which focuses on developing biological seed treatments to help North American farms meet their production goals by overcoming plant disease challenges with proprietary products.
About position
The successful applicated will contribute to the study of pathogen diversity, hose parasite interactions and evaluation of plant resistance mechanisms.
This is an on-site position in Saskatoon, Canada and is open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents and those with current Canadian work permits.
**Responsibilities**:
- In charge of research projects in the field, greenhouse and the lab settings
- Responsible for all greenhouse and growth chamber operation, including planting, seed treating, managing growth conditions (temp, humidity, levels of light), field notes, harvesting.
- develop bioassays, experimental protocols and standard operating procedures
- experience with sterile techniques and conducting experiments in lab and greenhouse with plants and pathogens
- knowledge of optimal conditions for growing field crops (i.e., field corn, soybeans, pulse crops)
- responsible for providing both analytical and technical support for various research projects
- ability to work in greenhouse conditions and lift up to 50 lbs
- ability to work with biological and biochemicals and follow safety procedures
- must be able to work individually and in a team setting.
Preferred applicant would have the following qualifications:
- BSc / MSc in plant science, plant pathology, plant breeding, biology, plant physiology. Microbiology, horticulture or another ag related discipline.
- 2+ years of managing greenhouse / growth chamber experience.
- Ability to travel outside of the Saskatoon area to visit remote trial sites.
- Experience working in agriculture and with Ag equipment a benefit.
- Knowledge of plant pathology or previous work / educational experience in plant pathology
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
**Salary**: $50,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
