Addiction Counsellor

The Farm in Stouffville is a private, residential, mental health and addiction treatment centre located in Stouffville, Ontario. We’re currently looking for an experienced, full-service addiction counsellor.

This position requires an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and self-directed professional who will work closely with clients in providing timely and effective mental health and addiction treatment services.

**_Job Description: _**
- Perform patient intakes, screenings and assessments;
- Provide comprehensive treatment planning and case management;
- Design and implement goal-oriented care plans;
- Lead group and one-on-one therapy sessions;
- Identify potential recovery triggers and teach coping mechanisms;
- Provide crisis intervention, supportive counselling and advocacy as required;
- Create, maintain, and secure all appropriate documentation related to a patient’s treatment;
- Meet with family members and provide guidance and support;
- Develop and conduct presentations to patients, the public, and other service providers.
**_Qualifications: _**
- **Addiction Counselling Diploma or equivalent education;**:

- **Minimum two years of experience working with substance abuse and mental health issues, residential experience is an asset;**:

- _Certification in Addiction Counselling (CCAC) preferred_
- _Membership with Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation (CACCF) preferred_
- Significant knowledge of a variety of counselling modalities including CBT, mindfulness and relapse prevention;
- Knowledge of community resources and provincial addiction system;
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication and organizational skills;
- Up-to-date CPR/First Aid certification;
- **Ability to work shift work, mornings, evenings and weekends;**:

- A successful Vulnerable Sector Check, as per agency policy and procedures.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

- 8 hour shift

**Education**:

- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
**Experience**:

- Addictions/Mental Health: 2 years (preferred)
