Bakery Production Supervisor

Company Introduction: T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada’s largest Asian supermarket chain with 31 stores across the country: 13 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 10 in Ontario, and 1 in Quebec. The Company’s continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years.
The Role: Reporting to the _Pastry Chef _(or his/her delegate), the Bakery Production Supervisor (Bread, Cake &/or other Pastries) is responsible for supporting the _Pastry Chef _in providing guidance, supervision and sets as a good example for Bakery Production Assistants to follow. He/she is also responsible for producing the assigned products (Bread, Cake &/or other Pastries) based on orders received, control quality, inventory and wastage.
- Major Responsibilities: Produce the correct quantity of assigned products (Bread, Cake &/or other Pastries) based on orders received
- Control product (Bread, Cake &/or other Pastries) quality, inventory level and wastage
- Monitor the mixing of flour, dough, cake mix and other baking ingredients; supervise the baking production processes
- Provide guidance and supervision to Bakery Production Assistants, ensure fair distribution of work and ensure proper scheduling is done
- Provide training to Bakery Production Assistants and provide feedback on staff performance
- Participate in new product research and development process, encourage innovations
- Order and replenish inventory as and when required
- Responsible for the cleanliness, hygiene, equipment and tools maintenance follow up and workplace safety of the production area
- Assist to answer customers’ enquiries
- Lead by example by performing duties of Bakery Production Assistants as required
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the superior
- Manage product food safety and ensure FIFO is strictly practiced within the department
**Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements**
- Accountable, pleasant and is able to take initiative
- Possess knowledge and prior experience in making bakery products (Bread, Cake &/or other Pastries), including dough mixing, cake cutting and decorating etc
- Possess knowledge in workplace health & safety and food safety (FoodSafe Certification requires)
- Have knowledge and experience in supervising bakery production workflow and controlling cost and wastage
- Ability to manage and train employees
- Ability to deliver bakery product (Bread, Cake &/or other Pastries) research and development
- Good communication skills
- Good organization, and problem-solving skills
- A good team player
- Flexible to work in various shifts, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, morning and evening hours
- Have a good understanding of tools & equipment relevant to the job
- Possess basic computer skills in MS Office
