**Position Summary**

We are seeking an HR Generalist to join our team, working collaboratively to enhance the Human Resources services provided to staff, our teams, and management.

Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, the HR Generalist provides culturally informed support for a wide range of HR functions. This may include, but is not limited to, the implementation and interpretation of the policies, programs and procedures, recruitment, employee relations, compliance, reporting, expenses, documentation, promoting organizational values, and supporting employees and management in creating a positive workplace culture. The HR Generalist will also engage in community relations activities, supporting both clients and the broader community by ensuring Human Resources practices reflect our mission and values.

**This is a term contract position with an end date of March 31st, 2026.**

**What you'll do**

**Employee Relations**
- Foster a positive workplace environment that aligns with our mission, values and workplace culture.
- Actively participate with other teams to ensure a quality approach to concern resolution.
- Coordinate with Direct Supervisors and departments on the implementation of performance management solutions effectively.
- Develop employee messaging and communications initiatives, including guides, how-to’s and fact sheets on policies, practices, and procedures that affect employees.
- Support investigations into workplace incidents or complaints and assist the HR Generalist (Mediation and Traditional Healing) in resolving workplace disputes or concerns, including supporting the administration of case files, taking notes of conversations, accommodations, performance improvement plans, and progressive disciplinary actions.
- Support Seabird’s entities with performance and case management recommendations.
- Ensure all employees have a valid Criminal Record Check.
- Assist with ends of employment and oversee exit interviews and the documentation.

**Recruitment Support**
- Assist with recruitment and onboarding processes as needed, including supporting Seabird’s entities with recruitment, hiring, and onboarding efforts.
- Complete reference checks as assigned.

**Tracking**
- Document and track all employee leaves, and other absences, ensuring compliance with policies and applicable laws.
- Document and track all employment status changes, employee leaves, unexcused absences, performance, educational leave agreements, surveys, and reports on all Human Resources activities through monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

**Policy Development and Implementation**
- Provide guidance to employees and management on policies and processes.

**Data Management and Reporting**
- Maintain confidential and accurate records in the HR information system (HRIS), Citation Canada, employee files and throughout the case management and mediation and traditional healing process.
- Draft all reports from statistics across HR functions and team (including but not limited to: HR metrics reporting, such as turnover, exit interviews, and case outcomes, to support strategic decision-making).
- Oversee the performance appraisals period, including assessments, goal setting, feedback, and surveys.
- Oversee expense reconciliations across all HR functions.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of employee data.
- Support audits and compliance initiatives.

**Other Duties**
- Additional responsibilities as needed to support the community and uphold our shared values.
- Support the work of all HR functions and general notetaking tasks.
