**Job purpose**:
**To execute on meat production required to ensure constant flow of prepared product from back of house to front of house for retail sale.**

**Responsibilities**:
Complete daily task list provided by management, ensure display counters are filled and there is sufficient product ready at all times for restocking.

Basic Cutting & Meat Preparation
- Assist in portioning and trimming beef, other meats, poultry and seafood.
- Breakdown and package poultry items.
- Sausage and Burger making.
- Clean, cut, and package meat and seafood items.

Merchandising
- Ensure cuts of meat, sausages and burgers are cut, packaged and rotated according to standards, maintaining proper storage conditions.
- Ensure prepacked items are correctly labelled and priced.
- Ensure display counters have a full compliment of product offerings at all times including seasonal and specialty items prepared in advance of busy periods to eliminate empty spaces in display counters.

Customer Service
- Smile, greet, and engage with every customer that comes to the work area.
- Assist customers with questions in a prompt friendly courteous manner, making recommendations on products, facilitating with placing or collecting special orders.

Department Maintenance
- Assist in receiving of product, checking product for quality, count, and condition.
- Rotate deliveries into storage following procedure.
- Maintain backroom equipment in a clean, orderly condition.
- Participate in daily maintenance and cleaning of department counter, displays, aisles, prep & storage areas.
- Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly cleans of the department.
- Participate in regular inventory counts.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Meat & Seafood Manager or Store Manager.

Proficiencies:

- Strong product knowledge - meat, seafood
- Some Knife & butchery skills -must have some knowledge, with the willingness to grow and learn within the position
- Strong organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented; strong initiative and follow-through; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to set priorities

Education/Experience: At least 1 year in a meat cutting/butchery role

Working Conditions
- Retail grocery store environment, lifting up to 25kg
- Active work environment 100% of time
- Cold and odorous work environment

**Salary**: $16.00-$18.00 per hour
