Farewell Harbour Lodge is a family-owned wilderness lodge located in the Broughton Archipelago off the northeastern tip of Vancouver Island. We have 12 rooms with a maximum occupancy of 24 guests and a peak-season staff of around 18. We offer daily excursions for whale watching, grizzly bear viewing, kayaking, rainforest walks, and more. Our committed and passionate staff enjoy remote living in a beautiful location surrounded by some of the most charismatic wildlife on the planet.

The Shuttle Driver / Tour Guide position is critical to our guests' experience as you are the first and last contact with the lodge. We believe that starting our guests off with a warm and welcoming arrival and an attentive and friendly departure is crucial to the success of the lodge.

**Responsibilities of the Shuttle Driver / Guide include, but are not limited to**:

- Provide a friendly, warm, welcoming environment for arriving and departing guests.
- Coordinate the pick-up and drop-off of Farewell Harbour Lodge guests from Port Hardy Airport and local hotels in a 15-passenger van or 5-passenger truck.
- Take departing guests on 3-hour excursions (e.g., nature walks, Telegraph Cove, Whale Interpretive Centre, Quatse River Salmon Enhancement Centre, Stories Beach, Port Hardy).
- Provide local information to guests during the drive and excursions.
- Work closely with Farewell Harbour Lodge administration to coordinate daily schedules, schedule changes, and flight delays.
- Coordinate guest arrivals and departures to/from Alder Bay by car, parking guest vehicles, and getting luggage to the dock.
- Help delivery drivers organize and put away food freight in the designated storage areas and help bring freight to the dock to load it on the water taxi.
- Serve as the Vancouver Island-based logistics person for the lodge (lodge errands, pick-ups and deliveries, vehicle servicing appointments, etc.)
- Clean out the van/truck daily, ensuring it is always kept clean and sanitized. Wash the van/truck and mop the van floors weekly.
- Drive down the island when needed for lodge business.

**Preferred qualifications and skills**:

- Class 4 Unrestricted licence & clean drivers abstract
- Preference will be given to those with experience working as a guide
- Local knowledge of northeast Vancouver Island
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Flexible with the ability to adapt to changing plans and schedules
- Strong time management & organizational skills
- Local plant and wildlife knowledge
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs repetitively to carry freight & luggage up and down the dock ramp

**Job Types**: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 5 months

Pay: $20.00-$23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 - 48 per week
