**CNC Machinist/Operator**

The CNC Machinist is responsible for parts fabrication by operating a variety of CNC Mills and CNC Lathes, entering programs provided to them from the Machine Shop Manager to enter into a CNC Mill or CNC Lathe. To observe the operation of the CNC machine and verify through measurement the correct dimensions of finished products. The Machinist is also responsible to make a sustained effort to ensure that they understand and comply with the HSE, (Health Safety Environmental), ESG (Environmental and Social Governance) programs, as well as all identified quality standards that the Orion shop is adhering to such as CSA, ISO, ABSA.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Understand and adhere to all Orion Machining and Design, Inc. policies and procedures.
- Verifies quality control of first-run workpieces by using precision measuring instruments to compare design measurements to finished product dimensions to ensure accurate parts run.
- Perform ongoing quality control measurement checks using calibrated instruments provided on all machined surfaces to ensure machining accuracy to design dimensions.
- Operate the overhead crane and forklift, (using lifting magnets and slings as fastening and lifting appliances) as necessary to load and unload CNC and conventional machines.
- Operate a manual or electric pallet jack to move and position part boxes containing raw and finished products.
- Operate an adjustable work table to hold part boxes at a comfortable working height
- Operates a bench mounted grinder to smooth and polish machined products
- Chooses tooling from the tool crib, aligns and secures cutting tools, holding fixtures, attachments, accessories, and materials on conventional and NC lathes and NC mills.
- Responsible for the housekeeping and clean-up of their specific work area and the general condition of the machine shop, and yard areas.
- Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
- Operate within the quality control program designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards.
- Maintain quality control objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other operational areas to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
- Other duties required by management.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $20.00-$38.00 per hour
