Tamminga Enterprises is hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our excavating and site servicing construction crew. In this role, you will operate heavy equipment including skid steers, dozers and excavators to complete industrial/commercial excavation and site servicing projects. This role will involve tasks such as excavating, grading, trenching, and performing other essential duties to support the successful execution of construction projects.

**Position Duties and Responsibilities**
- Operation of heavy equipment on a regular basis: skid steers, excavators, dozers, related equipment/attachments
- General labour such as shoveling, raking, wheelbarrowing, and using various compaction equipment including diesel plate tampers
- Perform pre-operational circle checks on all machinery and equipment
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on machinery and equipment to ensure proper functioning
- Complete daily operating logs
- Maintain a safe and orderly working environment, ensuring all on-site activities are compliant with all applicable legislation, regulations, codes, and standards related to occupational health and environmental safety
- Enhance the safety culture among support staff by maintaining an active role in incident prevention and promoting health and safety practices
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively in a professional and courteous manner
- Perform other related duties as assigned

**Requirements and Qualifications**:

- **Minimum 5 years of experience with operation of heavy equipment**:

- Proficient knowledge and ability to safely operate various heavy equipment including: excavators, skid steers, dozers, and other related equipment/attachments required to carry out excavation and site-servicing work
- Must be willing to operate skid steers on a regular basis
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs
- Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions
- Ability to communicate efficiently and act in a professional and courteous manner at all times with all company personnel and clients

**Desired Skills and Attributes**:

- Experience pipe laying for watermains, storm and sanitary sewer systems
- Capable of independent and self-guided work with mínimal or no supervision
- Capable of working with cross-functional teams; excellent team player
- Working knowledge and proficiency to accurately read drawings and locates, and properly set grades
- First Aid/CPR Certification an asset

Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 50 per week
