**Your Role in a Nutshell**:
As a tech-based charity that processes over $400 million dollars in donations and supports over 26,000 charities across Canada, proactive compliance and risk management are critical to our success. The Manager, Compliance & Risk is responsible for ensuring CanadaHelps business operations, policies and procedures comply with all applicable regulatory requirements, including those related to privacy, payments, charitable receipts and the Income Tax Act. They are also responsible for working across the organization to identify potential internal and external risks to CanadaHelps, track those risks in our ERM tool, and work with the Operations leadership to prioritize, develop and execute action plans to mitigate high priority / high impact risks.

**Key Accountabilities**:
**COMPLIANCE MANAGEMENT**
- Become the in-house expert on CanadaHelps’ compliance-related requirements;
- Track all current and new compliance-related regulations that impact CanadaHelps;
- Identify compliance gaps and risks and develop proactive plans to address;
- Work with internal teams in product, development, finance, DevOps and CDS to prioritize and address compliance gaps as the BizOps lead;
- Audit our compliance related processes, practices and documents on a regular basis to ensure adherence;
- Evaluate business activities (e.g. new vendors, new products, new features) to assess compliance risk through legislated processes such as Privacy Impact Assessments;
- Respond, and/or assist the organization in responding to compliance-related queries from our charities or donors;
- Document, educate and train employees on regulations and industry practices;
- Be the point person to collect employee, partner, charity or donor concerns or questions on compliance and, where appropriate, consult with other experts to address.

**RISK MANAGEMENT**
- Identify internal and external risks to the organization;
- Track all current and new risks in the CanadaHelps’ ERM tool;
- Work with Senior Director, Compliance & Risk to prioritize risks and develop proactive plans to address;
- Work with internal teams in product, development, finance, DevOps and CDS to prioritize and address risk management issues as the BizOps lead;
- Audit our risk management related processes, practices and documents on a regular basis to ensure adherence;
Address employee concerns or questions on risk.

**OVERALL**
- Keep abreast of internal standards and business goals and understand how they relate to compliance and risk management;
- Track and provide updates on the status of compliance and risk management legal issues that are under review;
- Conduct an annual review of all contracts related to our donors and charities, major vendor contracts and API/partnership agreements to ensure full compliance;
- Prepare reports for senior management, the CanadaHelps’ Board, and external regulatory bodies (as appropriate);
- Other duties as required.

**Skills and Competencies**:

- 4+ years experience working as a Compliance Officer and/or similar experience in risk management;
- Knowledge of provincial, national and international compliance-related requirements and controls (e.g. GDPR, PIPEDA, Quebec Law 25, FINTRAC, Anti-Money Laundering, or AML);
- Experience using Enterprise Risk Management software to track and manage risks;
- Self-starter, with the ability to plan, organize and manage complex processes and collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders to drive progress;
