**Terms of employment**:0.8 temporary ( 64 hours bi-weekly ) with the potential to become full time ( 80 hours bi-weekly Avg.).

**Job requirements**

**Languages**
English

**Education**
College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year or equivalent experience

**Experience**
Experience an asset Security and Safety Criminal record check, Child abuse registry check Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities Physically demanding

**Additional Skills**
Supply and empty bed pans, Serve meal trays and feed patients, Deliver messages, reports, requisitions and specimens between departments, Make beds and maintain patients' rooms, Maintain inventory of supplies, Assist with the set-up and maintenance of traction equipment, cleaning or sterilizing equipment, maintaining and repairing equipment, and assembling, setting-up and operating job-related equipment

**Specific Skills**
Take patients' blood pressure, temperature and pulse, Weigh, lift, turn and position patients, Supervise patients' exercise routines, Bathe, dress and groom patients, Transport patients in wheelchair or stretcher, Answer call signals, Collect specimens, Administer first aid in emergency situations

**Weight Handling**
Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

**Work Setting**
Nursing home/home for the aged Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.)

Continuing Care Assistant Certification in Nova Scotia or eligible to become certified in Nova Scotia under the recognized prior learning program within 2 years of commencing employment
