**Who We Are**:
- Heritage Park is Canada's largest living history museum, offering visitors a chance to experience life in Western Canada from the 1860s to the early 1950s. The Park features historical buildings, costumed interpreters, working antiques, and various exhibits that provide insight into the region's past.
**Job Overview**:
Under the direction of the Interpretation Manager, the Music Programming Specialist is part of a team that assists in the day-to-day coordination of interpretive programming for all public interpretive areas at Heritage Park. This position will collaborate with other staff to research, develop and implement new program initiatives with a focus on musical history and music programming for an engaging guest experience.
**Responsibilities**:
- Conducts research to develop and implement daily interpretive programs and new initiatives that highlight the history of music in Western Canada, including ‘folk music’ of various cultures, within the period of the late 1800s to 1950s;
- Assists with day-to-day coordination of musical interpretive programming including delegation of work assignments and preparations;
- Contributes to the review and evaluation of programs;
- Supports Musical Interpreter/Demonstrators and volunteers engaged in music programming by acting as a resource of information and assisting in music skill development;
- Participates in the recruitment, training, scheduling, supervision, mentoring and evaluation of all seasonal staff and volunteers, including Exhibit Lead Hands;
- Prepares materials and venues for programs including coordinating logistics with other Park departments;
- Ensures the proper care, handling, and security of artifacts and other objects associated with the assigned exhibits;
- Provides support to other departments and lines of business within the facility including collaboration with Community Engagement programming.

**Required Qualifications**:
- Post-Secondary education and/or training in a related field (Music History, Music Education, Western Canadian History, Historical Interpretation, Museum Studies) is required;
- Musical aptitude, including the ability to play at least one instrument from the 1910 time-period is required;
- At least one years' experience in the development and delivery of interpretation programs using a variety of techniques is required;
- A keen interest in and knowledge of the history of Calgary and Western Canada is an asset;
- Prior supervisory and mentoring experience, and experience teaching children, youth or adults is considered an asset;
- Comfortable working with audiences of all ages;
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, in a client-faced setting;
- Organized, flexible, adaptable, and demonstrating mature judgement;
- Proven ability to work well in a team and independently;
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, able to conduct research both online and through traditional methods; and
**Special Clothing and Equipment**:
- Business attire is required when in the office;
- Appropriate costuming and safety equipment will be provided by Heritage Park if applicable; and
