NATURE OF THE JOB

The work consists of providing technical support in environmental matters, participating in the development of good practices and ensuring the necessary follow-ups for the operations and realization of various projects, mainly in the field of waste management.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Examples of Tasks to be Accomplished**

1. Carry out the various tasks inherent to the follow-up of waste management contracts in order to ensure that the work is carried out in accordance with the specifications, the regulations and the practices in use;
2. Compile and process, with the help of computer software, statistics (number of weighings, tonnages of materials, etc.) collected by him or by the contractors, particularly those related to the management of residual materials (household waste, recyclable and organic materials) as well as all other materials that would require statistical follow-up and provide recommendations to managers for budget planning;
3. Process requests related to environmental issues from citizens, government agencies or other institutions. Make recommendations to his/her superior

4. Act as a consultant to citizens, administrators of multi-unit housing complexes, schools, religious institutions and municipal buildings;
5. Provide guidance and direction to business and City employees in the performance of work related to the nature of the job and ensure that the work performed meets the intended objectives;
6. Preparing specifications and briefs in various areas of the environment (e.g. waste collection, hazardous waste handling and storage, snow removal operations, etc.);
7. Communicate regularly with foremen and managers in order to exchange information and obtain their collaboration. Interact with various external stakeholders (community groups, citizens, building owners) to stimulate their interest and participation in the various projects and programs of the Branch;
8. Collaborate in the development, revision and drafting of various policies within the Branch (environmental policy, purchasing policy, water policy and others);
9. Maintain links with representatives of the agglomeration and participate in meetings, forums and symposiums organized in its field of expertise;
10. Provide technical support to the Directorate for general environmental issues (budgetary follow-up, waste management projects, contaminated soils, hazardous domestic waste, tender documents);
11. Participate in and assist in the development of communication tools to educate citizens on proper waste management;
12. Carry out the required analyses and report on its findings and recommendations;
13. Ensure the implementation of the City's environmental programs;
14. Carry out studies, audits, visits and the production of documents and reports requested by his/her superior;
15. Participate in the development of environmental protection training and awareness programs;
16. Assist his/her supervisor in contaminated land management projects;
17. Prepare reports, statistics and other environmental policies;

N.B. You may be required to submit to a written competency test.

LATITUDE OF ACTION

Work is performed under general supervision within established guidelines and objectives. Work is evaluated on results achieved.

**Education and experience requirements**

Education: Completion of a specialized college diploma, appropriate sector and profile or (a university certificate in a related field).

Experience: Two (2) years of experience in a job that allows the incumbent to become familiar with the field of employment.

Other: Bilingualism, both spoken and written.

**Qualifications**

Knowledge of:

- Spoken and written French and English;
- usual computer software, mainly the Office suite;
- Knowledge of environmental policies in general.
