**POSITION OVERVIEW**
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
Completion of Grade 12 Education including or supplemented by courses related to the work plus sound related experience preferably in an inspectional and regulatory department, OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES**
- Considerable knowledge of the departmental procedures, bylaws, rules and regulations related to the work.
- Sound knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation and arithmetic and modern office practices and procedures.
- Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public and staff in supplying information and in explaining and interpreting bylaws and regulations as related to the work performed.
- Ability to perform typing and clerical assignments, and maintain files and records related to the work.
- Ability to make decisions in accordance with established rules, policies and procedures.
- Ability to operate common office equipment and a computer terminal.
**HOURS OF WORK**
Hours of work will be Monday-Friday - 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
As per Article 14.01 this position may be required to work an afternoon shift consisting of seven (7) hours, exclusive of an unpaid meal period, between 3:00 pm and midnight, Monday to Saturday, and may also be required to work a dayshift on Saturdays.
**ADDITIONAL INFORMATION**
This is a one (1) year maternity leave replacement, which may be extended or curtailed by circumstances which could not be foreseen at the time of hiring.
