The District of North Vancouver is looking for a talented IT professional to join the District’s IT Operations team as a **Systems Administrator **to build, manage, and support the District’s IT Endpoints and related infrastructure.
**What we can offer you**
We’re looking for a talented Systems Administrator to join our team in a 3-Year Temporary Full-Time position. In this position you will be part of a team that is responsible for the secure and efficient operation of the organization's networks, servers, storage, telecommunications equipment, and cloud services. You will work with a range of departments from all around the District, everything from Engineering to the Library to the Fire Department and in between.
The successful applicant will have:
- 5+ years progressive technical experience.
- Expert knowledge of:
- RMM Tools, preferably SCCM/MECM
- Managing Windows Updates
- Managing third party software
- Software Packaging
- Operating Systems Deployment
- Managing Workstation Operating Systems (Windows 10/11)
- Group Policy Management
- Managing Office 365 / Microsoft 365 Apps For Business
- Proficient knowledge of:
- Modern Management systems and techniques such as Microsoft Intune MDM, MAM and Autopilot.
- PowerShell Scripting, and PSAppDeploymentToolkit library
- Active Directory
- Microsoft 365; Tenant Administration, Azure AD, Conditional Access and MFA, Single Sign-On, Roles Based administration.
- Certificate Management
- ITAM systems such as Lansweeper, Solarwinds or similar.
- End point security software such as Cisco AMP, Microsoft Defender, Sophos.
- A passion for seeking out, and enacting, improvements to IT systems and processes.
- Considerable knowledge of the practices and procedures used in the identification and resolution of hardware and software issues, including operating systems and communication problems on networked computers.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of staff and external contacts.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize workload to maintain systems technology availability and growth in synchronization with the District's overall technology requirements and strategy.
- A firm understanding of secure IT operations and the governance, policies, and tools required to maintain secure IT systems.
- Knowledge of local and wide area networks, server and workstation operating systems, hardware platforms, network protocols and related topologies.
- Demonstrate continued learning and understanding of current technology trends and challenges. Excellent grasp of problem definition and solution techniques applicable to the work performed.
- Superior communication skills, with strength in describing technical issues to a variety of end users, along with strong analytical and problem solving skills to ensure effective systems operations.
- Excellent documentation skills.
- Graduation from an institute of technology with a two year diploma in Computer Science or related discipline, supplemented by Microsoft, Cisco or other certifications.
- A valid B.C. Driver’s Licence is required.
It’s great if you have experience with:
- Microsoft Exchange Online/2016/2019
- VMware vSphere
- Backup Solutions, such as Veeam
- Microsoft on-premises systems; Windows Server, SQL, IIS
- Multi domain environments
- Virtual Desktop and App delivery
- Managing Microsoft Teams and Teams Phone
- Operating and maintaining Microsoft Exchange in a hybrid environment
- Large multi-disciplined organizations
- ITIL environment
