Postdoctoral Research Associate in Sustainable Chemical Process Modelling

The Laboratory of Future Industry (LoFI), in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of British Columbia, is hiring a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work under the supervision of Dr. Alexandra Tavasoli.
This position will contribute to an industry-funded project focused on sustainable chemical manufacturing processes for têxtile production. The project will involve chemical process design, computational modeling, and techno-economic analysis.
The start date for the position is 1 October 2025, or shortly thereafter. The salary for the position is $50,000 per year.
**About LoFI**
LoFI studies low-impact chemical and materials manufacturing systems that integrate sustainably into the earth’s natural ecology and our human social environment. LoFI’s research aims to: (1) identify the resource needs of the future low-carbon world; (2) understand the complex industrial ecosystems that enable the transformation of raw materials into economic and social value; (3) design and build innovative chemical and materials manufacturing processes to meet these needs; and (4) elucidate implementation strategies that lower the barriers facing the widespread adoption of these new industrial systems. **Qualifications**
- PhD in Chemical or Industrial Engineering, or relevant equivalent experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required to interface with industry partners
