Aquatic Supervisor

This is done through high safety standards, quality instruction & monitoring and creating a positive culture.

**Responsibilities**:

- Recruit, hire, and train qualified Head Lifeguards, Lifeguards and Attendants.
- Supervise aquatic staff and manage conduct and performance.
- Create staff schedules, monitor shift changes and ensure adequate coverage.
- Develop and facilitate training and orientation sessions.
- Actively promote teambuilding and mentoring of staff and volunteers.
- Provide customer service training for all new staff.
- Implement standards of excellence.
- Communicate effectively with the public and staff.
- Develop/implement Westside/Aquatic Park bookings/events.
- Deliver leadership courses and staff training.
- Perform First Aid and emergency procedures as required.
- Recommend & participate in Westside (& aquatic) policy and procedure development.
- Order supplies to ensure the aquatic park is well maintained & in good repair.
- Maintain WHMIS, AB Pool, OH&S regulations.
- Perform assessments and maintain safety and cleanliness of all aquatic areas.
- Input and participate in required organizational health & safety inspections, audits and hazard assessments (internal or external)
- Ensure safety and awareness for all staff while facilitating programs

**Physical/Psychological Demands**
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, warm, noisy and demanding environment
- Ability to complete sessional aquatic skills aligned with Lifesaving Society physical standards
- Ability to work with vulnerable populations and respect customer/facility confidentiality
- Ability to lift 20-25lbs and work in a daily routine of sitting, standing, walking, swimming, bending, crouching, and kneeling
- Extended periods of time in the pool and on pool deck
- Exposure to chemical used in the pool
- Exposure to cleaning supplies
- Ability to complete administration work ergonomically

**Qualifications**:

- 5 (five) years of applicable aquatic experience, including 3 years in a supervisory level position
- Current Lifesaving Society Lifesaving & Swim for Life Instructor Certification (Trainer Award is an asset)
- Current National Lifeguard Service Award (National Lifeguard Instructor/Trainer Award is an asset)
- Current Alberta Approved First Aid training agency - CSA Standard Z1210-17 Intermediate First Aid (First Aid Instructor is an asset)

**Employment Term**:

- Full-time Salary position
- 37.5 hours/week
- Must be available to work variable shifts and flexible hours ranging from 5:00am
- 10:30pm Monday-Sunday.

- Some college or better
