Woodworking Machine Operator

Paradise Cabinets in Prince George, BC Canada is looking for 2 full-time, permanent woodworking machine operators to join our team of exceptional craftspeople. We design, build, and install custom kitchens, furniture and architectural millwork and we have been in business nearly 50 years in our community. Our staff is exceptionally diversified, and although we have no specific language requirements for employment, our businesses communications are mainly English. Wages are $22.50 hourly in a dayshift from Monday to Friday. Stats and sick days are all paid according to British Columbia Law.

To work with us your skills/attitude requirements:

- Must have at least a high school graduation,
- Must have minimum of 5 years experience with woodworking machines,
- Must have experience in setting up, programing, and operating computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines,
- Must have experience in architectural & shop drawings and be proficient with all other standard tools such as drills, tape measures, square etc.,
- Good mathematical skills,
- Responsibility, organizational, and problem-solving skills,
- Excellent social communication with both interpersonal and intrapersonal skills,
- Great attention to details,
- Be able to read and understand millwork drawings,
- Work under pressure while maintaining strict deadlines and exceptionally high-quality standards,
- Having commitment to team dynamics and ability to follow leadership directives,
- Able to work in a team environment and work well with others as a team member,
- The ability and interest in working outside of your ‘job description’ from time to time,
- Occupational health and safety certification or another certificate in a related health and safety field is an asset,
- You aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty when you see an opportunity - when someone asks for a volunteer, you don’t look around the room or at your toes; you are the one

Main Duties Include:

- Setting up, programming, and operating one or more computer numerically controlled (CNC) or manual woodworking machines such as saws, routers, edgers, shapers, drills, and sanders to manufacture cabinets,
- Operate hydraulic clamps and gluing machine to make related wooden products,
- Operate pre-set special-purpose woodworking machines to fabricate wood products such as mouldings, kitchen cabinet accessories, cutting boards, charcuterie boards and custom accessories,
- Being able to read architectural & shop drawings.
- Clean workstations and remove scraps, dust, shavings or other by-products from machinery, and surrounding areas,
- Collaborate with the project manager and/or project coordinator to ensure that project quality and schedule are established and maintained through each project,
- Maintain a safety-first work ethic, always utilizing all PPE while working within the scope of your responsibilities,
- Attending all shop safety meeting and morning rallies to ensure excellent communication with team members,
- May make minor adjustments and repairs.
