**Job Summary**
- Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick (DMNB) is one of the two campuses of Dalhousie Faculty of Medicine. The main administrative office is located on the UNBSJ Campus in Saint John. DMNB offers a continuum of education programming for a minimum of 40 students per year over the undergraduate program as well as six postgraduate medical education residency sites based in NB and many additional rotations through distributed Dalhousie Postgraduate training programs based in Halifax. Reporting to the Director of Student & Resident Affairs and the Director of Operations, DMNB, and working in collaboration with the Office of Resident & Student Affairs DMNS, the Student & Resident Affairs Advisor will be responsible for the development, design, implementation and evaluation of wellness activities and programs to promote personal health and well-being, resiliency, and leadership among learners as well as provide personal advising support.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Build awareness, skill, and flexibility of learners to support their academic and professional progress through the program and beyond graduation through the transition to residency training and subsequent career path.
- Provide holistic advising and proactive programming and support to adult learners in the four primary domains of Student & Resident Affairs, health & wellness, finances, academics and career advising, addressing the challenges facing both medical students and residents in all four domains.
- Develop, design, implement and evaluate programming and curriculum for group and 1:1 sessions. Recruit faculty, staff and other individuals from allied health, community and government groups as appropriate to participate in the delivery of programs, seminars, workshops, etc.
- Consult with class and resident leadership to determine and address their needs. Provide advice and guidance to DMNB Student & Resident Affairs site leads across multiple sites and to Student Affairs Wellness Liaison Students and Resident Wellness representatives.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationship with external agencies. Facilitate learner access to appropriate venues for assistance including community services and student support services. Initiate and exercise appropriate institutional crisis intervention responses and processes where required.
- Collaborate with the Student and Resident Affairs team in more complex or critical personal or academic cases, including referring for intensive one-on-one coaching assistance as required.
**Note**
- Hours may fluctuate based on student demand and urgent and emergency situations. Availability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, and weekends will be required.
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
**Required Qualifications**
- Undergraduate degree in relevant field such as Health Promotion, Social Work or Psychology, plus approximately five years’ experience working with students (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
- Previous experience in student advising, including learner financial advising, and/or disability support.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt and respond positively to acutely changing conditions and priorities as well as technologies.
- Proven interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal) as well as demonstrated tact and sound judgment when working with a range of stakeholders.
