**Role Responsibilities**:
- Join our team as a Wildlife Technician and make a meaningful impact on our wildlife program in the northeast. Working under the guidance of our Senior Wildlife Biologist, you will play a key role in the Northeast region’s cormorant and colonial nester program fieldwork, data collection, entry, and reporting. From conducting field surveys to data collection, entry, and reporting, you will actively contribute to wildlife initiatives while gaining valuable experience in wildlife management.
**Key responsibilities for this position will include**:
- Conduct population inventories of Double-crested cormorants and select colonial nesters, monitor species distribution, identify new colonies, and oil cormorant eggs at select locations.
- Manage data collection and entry, and prepare summary reports.
- Participate in planning to ensure tasks are completed safely.
- Handle equipment, tools, and instruments for field tasks.
- Collaborate with the Wildlife Stewardship team to ensure program success.
- Support program administration through data entry, quality control, and logistics.
- Contribute to efficient and effective wildlife management initiatives.
- Solve problems and make decisions under the guidance of the Senior Wildlife Biologist.

**Qualifications**:
**Required**:
- 2-year diploma in sciences or in a related field.
- 3 years of related experience.
- Valid Driver’s License (Class 5).
- Current First Aid certification (CPR Level C)
**Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered based on**:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year education
**Assets**
- Excellent bird identification skills and experience with a variety of wildlife survey and monitoring techniques.
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills, enabling effective interaction with stakeholders.
- Proficient in technical data entry, organization, and management, ensuring data accuracy and integrity throughout the process.
- Experience with and ability to operate 4x4 vehicles, quads, and/or boats.
- Familiarity with Alberta Fish and Wildlife policies, procedures, and legislation, along with a sound understanding of Occupational Health and Safety standards.

2 wage positions - 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

**Wage Benefits**:
- Wage employees receive 11.2% in addition to regular wage earnings in lieu of benefits and vacation leave.
- 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays.
- 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay.
- Weekend shifts are eligible for a premium of $3.25 per hour.
- Evening shifts are eligible for a premium of $2.75 per hour.
