Under the general direction of the Independent Power & Renewable Gas Strategies Section Head, the EM Strategy Officer will be
responsible for leading the development and implementation of strategies associated with renewable natural gas (RNG) and
hydrogen, and be responsible for the evaluation, negotiation, implementation and administration of related long-term power
purchase agreements. They will be responsible to develop and enhance customer relationships with key industry stakeholders and
strategic partners while staying informed on market and technology developments in the renewable gas industry. The EM Strategy
Officer will be responsible for creating and collaborating with a cross enterprise team to develop, maintain, coordinate, and advance
renewable gas strategies and initiatives. These strategies will be inline with the Provincial Energy Strategy, support provincial
economic development and align with the enterprise's Integrated Resource Plan and Strategy 2040.
**_ Responsibilities:_**
- Lead an enterprise-wide cross functional team to develop, implement and oversee renewable gas strategies associated with
RNG and hydrogen. This includes developing processes, teams and a governance structure that will help define the current
state of the renewable gas market, identify strategic initiatives and opportunities, and determine an implementation plan to
help support the execution and coordination of the strategies.
- Conduct detailed evaluations for the growing number of proposed RNG and hydrogen projects including financial and
system.
- Lead the negotiation of proposed long-term utility-scale RNG and hydrogen purchase contracts with a broad range of new
energy entrants for a variety of renewable and carbon neutral technologies that are in the best interests of Manitoba Hydro.
- Prepare pricing recommendation, executive recommendations, briefing notes and other executive reports as requested
including presenting to senior management and executive.
- Conduct financial risk analysis of proposed contracts under various scenarios and sensitivities.
- Develop and advance strategies with environmental attributes, carbon tax deferral and renewable thermal certificates
- associated with renewable gas to help promote economic development and assist in customer decarbonization efforts.- Build and maintain positive relationships with a wide range of new energy entrants including Indigenous communities,
- commercial developers, and municipalities.- Project manage the progression of renewable gas projects from preliminary discussions to commercial operation.
- Keep abreast of the evolving carbon neutral and renewable energy landscape and represent Manitoba Hydro at tradeshows,
- conferences, and industry groups.- Responsible to update Manitoba Hydro's related external webpages and other types of customer touch points as necessary.
- Engage with external stakeholders and key industry partners to leverage available funding and advance Manitoba Hydro's
- understanding of new technologies or markets.- Collaborate closely with the Internal Resource Planning, Indigenous & Community Relations, Legal, Customer Billing, Energy

**_ Qualifications:_**
- Completion of a four-year bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or other relevant discipline from an institute of
recognized standing with a minimum of seven years of experience leading strategy development.
