Reporting to the HR Director, the Human Resources Business Partner will execute human resources activities while ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed and delivered within the business, in compliance with governing legislation, regulations, internal policies and best practices. You will be part of a high-performance team, building strong, strategic partnerships with leaders, driving a proactive workplace culture through influencing and collaboration, by embodying AGF’s core values.
You will partner closely with leaders to advise on Employee and Labour Relations best practices and support continuous improvement objectives within the HR team. You are a strategic partner to the Operations Management team and are instrumental in ensuring that key initiatives are aligned with the respective business goals and objectives of the organization.
- position is hybrid - two days per week in office/onsite, and as required based on business needs
**THE ROLE**:
- Act as a strategic HR partner to the business group in the delivery of the people plan and initiatives to support the business
- Proactively identify needs and concerns by observing employee, team and leadership behaviours and events, assessing key HR data and business performance
- Champion the performance and talent management processes in the Region including participation in talent reviews, succession planning, and creation of development plans
- Act as a change agent to support critical business initiatives and support leaders in all elements of effective change management
- Keep a pulse on employee engagement, satisfaction, and company culture, and recommend solutions and actions
- Advise managers and supervisors on issues relating to conflict management, performance and attendance issues, and employee / labour relations matters, providing consultation and constructive feedback and solutions
- Responsible for day-to-day Labour Relations support, including interpretation and administration of the CBA, grievance responses and Employer-Union relationship management
- Participate in the renewals of and assist with negotiations of the collective agreement for assigned client group, in collaboration with the HR team
- Lead investigations and fact finding on employee and labour relations issues related to harassment and disciplinary issues and make recommendations
- Lead logistic and administrative preparation for terminations, exit interviews, and separation agreements as necessary;
- Provide guidance and support on non-occupational disability claims management - act as a liaison between disability claims provider and the management team
- Lead special projects and other initiatives such as employee engagement, performance and capability improvement, attraction, and retention initiatives, policy development and renewals
- Manage reporting and employee data including seniority lists, absenteeism, disciplinary history, hires, terminations, compensation updates and other personnel updates
- Participate in the design, development, implementation, administration and evaluation of human resource programs, relating to staffing, retention, training, compensation and benefits, rewards and recognition, and employee relations
- Support the annual performance and wage review process and the creation / revision of job descriptions
- Responsible for onboarding of new employees
**Qualifications**
- University degree or college diploma in Industrial Relations, HR Management or related field
- 7+ years of progressive HR experience, with demonstrated knowledge in client relation management and labour relations
- 1+ years' union experience
- Highly effective and persuasive personality, a team player and leader and an excellent facilitator of action planning
- Must be strategic, have a good professional presence, and possess strong planning and organizational skills and experience leading projects.
- Strong integrity with ability to maintain confidentiality and manage highly sensitive information.
- Strong analytic skills and superior ability to problem-solve
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Highly motivated, self-starter, requiring little direction
- Strong interpersonal, influence and consultation skills combined with the ability to interact with all levels and question the status quo and propose innovative solutions
- Demonstrated experience in coaching others on how to have difficult conversations
- Strong knowledge of Employment Standards/Labour Law, Change Management, Employee Relations, Performance Improvement, Resource Planning
