Aspire Richmond Support Society offers a continuum of care throughout the lifespan of an individual with a disability. This includes early intervention supports for infants and children, child and youth care, adult day and residential services, employment options and more.
**Supported Child Development Consultant (37.5 hours weekly)**
The Supported Child Development Consultant works in conjunction with community service providers to facilitate the inclusion of children who require additional support in child care settings or other community based children’s activities. They work in a collaborative team approach to support and coordinate the services of children with diagnosed developmental disabilities or delays.
**YOUR IMPACT**:
- Ability and experience working with children ages birth-19 with developmental disabilities and families in their home, as well as with child care programs/staff.
- Able to build effective working relationships with other professionals, family members, and organizations to ensure services are in the families and child's best interest and are supportive of their inclusion and goals.
- Develops and implements individual plans for children who require additional support in conjunction with parents, childcare educators, and other community professionals.
- Works closely with child care programs to ensure the full inclusion of children who require extra support, while continually evaluating the child’s progress and individual goals.
- Consultant will develop and deliver training on children who require additional support as well as inclusive child care, as well as providing information and resources to families and childcare providers.
- Ensure that program and client records and statistics, and all appropriate documentation is accurate and complete while ensuring the confidentiality of all client records.
- Will work to reduce any barriers for families in accessing services due to demographic and socioeconomic conditions of the Richmond community.
- Knowledge and experience working in a family centered service delivery model.
**YOUR CAPABILITIES**:
- University degree in area directly related to child development and/or a Diploma in Early Childhood Education as well as additional certification in Special Needs. Preference may be given to those with a Post-Secondary Diploma in Supported Child Development/Infant Development and who have held Early Intervention Consultant Positions in the past.
- Minimum 3 years professional experience in field of early intervention and at least 5 years providing direct support to children ages 3-12
- Ability to use Microsoft Programs and Client Information System
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with others, including members of the multi-disciplinary team and community resources.
- A background and understanding of working with groups of different cultures, ethnicities, genders, and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Ability to organize work and work independently
- Proven ability in the development facilitation and delivery of training to adult learners.
- Previous experience and knowledge of best practices in developmental goal setting.
- Current CPR/ First Aid Certification and Clear Criminal Records Check
- Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a vehicle
