**Overview**

The Network Team Lead is an important operations role to ensure our HPC customers and employees are provided with robust, resilient and performative network services across our national data centre platform on a 24x7x365 basis. The role requires strong network technical knowledge along with planning and leadership of a small team.

The position reports to the HPC, VP Operations.

**Responsibilities**
- Team task assignment, objective setting, performance management and coaching
- Overall roll-out of a new national, Cisco based routing and switching platform
- Operational readiness including but not limited to monitoring, logging, authentication, security hardening/patching, architectural documentation, NOC training/readiness
- Assurance of readiness for carrier circuits including but not limited to lit services, dark fiber, ethernet etc
- Cancellation/wind-down of legacy WAN circuits
- Deep understanding of IP transit, peering, CIDR, routing and switching protocols, network carrier products, data centre SLAs
- Own carrier relationships, contracts, escalations, WAN circuit details, invoice review and approval
- Lead technical troubleshooting

- Full day to day operations including fault response, troubleshooting, vendor escalations, customer designs, capacity monitoring, customer provisioning-de-provisioning, patching
- Monitoring security alerts and actioning in a coordinated, ITIL based environment
- Close collaboration with NOC, Service Management, Sales, Security and Facilities teams
- Support new products and services as required
- Cross-train staff (particularly NOC, Solution Architects) in network designs, customer requirements, troubleshooting
- Serve as technical escalation point
- Interaction with contractors and consultants as required
- Manage network budgets
- Network automation

**Reports**
- Network Analyst

**Priority Projects**
- Assurance of final operational readiness of new national network
- Customer migrations to new network platform
- Review, document and cancel legacy carrier circuits
- Assessment of network DDoS mitigation solutions
- Adoption of new IPAM platform
- Development of operational documentation including architecture diagrams, customer circuit lists, troubleshooting guides, carrier escalations etc

**Education & Experience**
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical / Computer / Software Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or equivalent experience.
- Thorough understanding of service provider IP/MPLS network standards and technologies including but not limited to: MPLS, VPLS, IS-IS, OSPF, BGP, IPv6, STP, QoS, VoIP, cloud, optical networking.
- Proven experience planning and deploying an IP carrier grade infrastructure
- CCNP or equivalent is required / CCIE is preferred.

**Working Conditions**
- Hybrid office based
- Option to work at Toronto headquarters 2-3 days a week
- Some travel to data centre sites required periodically'
