About the Role
At Family Services of Greater Vancouver, we’ve been helping people in crisis since 1928. As a non-profit, we help people develop skills and knowledge, empowering our neighbours to create positive change in their lives. Our team is made up of more than 420 staff, including expert counsellors and support workers who provide compassionate, client-centered care to youth experiencing homelessness, families and children impacted by trauma, victims of domestic violence, and other vulnerable people from an evidence-based, trauma-informed lens. - Working within the mission, vision, values and person-centred philosophy of the Agency, the Financial Empowerment Facilitator supports people in groups or one to one for
- **Indigenous communities** in the Lower Mainland. Our curriculum enables participants to effectively manage everyday finances as well as plan for the future. We reduce stress and help participants feel more in control of their financial well-being. We are attentive to meeting people where they are and always respect their experiences. Building relationships with community partners, we foster and facilitate access to training, actively supporting the Agency’s awareness and goals around diversity, equity, justice and inclusion.
What we offer you:
**Work Hours**: 4 or more hours per week (hours may fluctuate). There is day time, evening and weekend hours available.
**Location**: Various locations within the Lower Mainland, hybrid working conditions
**Salary**: GS9, Step 1 $26.35/ Hourly plus 4% in lieu of vacation pay

What you bring:
**Knowledge, Skills, Abilities**
- **Knowledge and understanding of **Indigenous communities**:
- Acting as a knowledge keeper, passing on information, teachings and learnings to promote financial wellness for **Indigenous individuals, families and youth**.
- Fluent in written and verbal English
- Supporting our clients through financial empowerment, mentorship and economic understanding while respecting their cultural and sacred beliefs and traditions
- Knowledge of community resources and related government and non-government programs
- Knowledge of dynamics related to poverty and low-income
- Ability to use initiative, and function independently
- Comfortable speaking in front of a large group or online including facilitating discussion
**Education, Training, Experience**
- Undergraduate degree in social sciences **_and/or_** experience in personal finances, support to others in navigating government systems, adult education, or group facilitation
- Previous experience working with community development projects, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Computer competency with Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Microsoft Teams and Outlook)
- Certification as a Financial Advisor or Financial Coach Certificate would be an asset
**Additional Requirements**
- Successful completion of criminal record check
- **Proof of Covid-19 vaccination status will be required**
