**Job description**:
Summit Veterinary Pharmacy is seeking One full-time Quality Control Chemist to join our busy Quality Control Department team.

Located in Aurora, Ontario, Summit has been supplying prescription compounded medications to veterinary clinics across Canada for over 20 years. Our mission is to set the standard for excellence in veterinary compounding; enabling veterinarians to fulfill their commitment to their clients' health and well-being.

**Principle Responsibilities**:

- Handle Agilent’s 1260 infinity HPLC System and Varian Pro Star HPLC instrument and operate Varian Star Chromatography software and Agilent’s Open Lab software.
- Handle and operate Friability, Dissolution and disintegration instruments and other Lab equipment.
- Assist in the maintaining of Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices for the laboratory.
- Conduct stability studies and test stability samples at the specified intervals
- Prepare the Certificate of Analysis for the final release of all the finished compounded preparations
- Assist with the organization of the weekly testing schedule. This is to be clearly written out of the area communication board for all team members to use as a reference
- Perform all the tests in a timely manner adhering to the weekly testing schedule. Care should be taken to ensure that urgent samples are prioritized in the testing schedule to reduce the back orders.
- Assist with the analyzing of oral liquids, injections, tablets, transdermal gels, chewable treats, aliquots and capsules for potency and other physical tests.
- Assist with the prioritizing of the daily and weekly tasks appropriately (i.e.: Fill the stability chamber’s water tank with distilled water to control humidity.)
- Complete the area checklist inspection on a daily basis or as necessary to ensure a clean working area environment is maintained.
- Facilitate the constructive resolution of any issue(s) that may arise in the area and be able to deal with difficult situations under the guidance of the laboratory manager
- Keep abreast of all changes to your area and be familiar with all aspects of the laboratory
- Ensure the proper disposal of all expired drugs and chemical waste from the laboratory
- Help with the monitoring of inventory items, such as; chemicals, equipment, and area sundries.
- Participates in departmental housekeeping and other pertinent duties as assigned in accordance with safety and GMP requirements.
- Washing all the laboratory glass ware on daily basis.
- Performing general Cleaning in laboratory and outside area routinely and mop the floor once in a week.
- Filling up distilled water in the Stability chamber’s water tank on the regular basis to maintained water level to control humidity inside the chamber
- Performs additional related duties, as assigned, in accordance with job responsibilities and necessary departmental objectives.

**Qualifications and Preferred skills**:

- More than 1 year experience of handling HPLC instruments and knowledge of HPLC software and the ability to carry out chromatography techniques.
- Knowledge of USP, EP and BP
- Knowledge of GLP/GMP and ICH guidelines for stability studies and the ability to work in accordance with them.
- Knowledge of the Method Development and Method Validation as per the regulatory requirements

**Schedule**:

- Monday to Friday - Approximately 40 hours per week
- Morning Shift : 7:00am to 3:30pm

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: From $23.00 per hour
