**Overview**:
We’re looking for a sharp, detail-oriented **Digital Rights & Licensing Manager** to join our team.

This is a **senior, hands-on role** that bridges music publishing, media copyright, and consumer product licensing, with **digital fluency baked in**. You'll be responsible for ensuring our IP is protected, monetized, and properly documented across all platforms and formats, including YouTube, streaming, broadcast, and retail.

**Location**: Toronto, Ontario (Hybrid or Remote may be considered)
**Salary Range**: $75,000 - $94,000 CAD annually, commensurate with experience

Skyship Entertainment is best known as the creator of the super popular Super Simple Songs YouTube channel We’re a digital-first animation and live-action TV production studio focusing on original series and song content for preschoolers and older audiences - and we’ve recently expanded beyond YouTube into subscription apps, games, books and products.

We’re looking for a Digital Rights & Licensing Manager (Music, Media & Consumer Products) to help protect, document, and maximize the value of our IP. **THE ROLE**

This is a senior, hands-on role that bridges music publishing, media copyright, and consumer product licensing — with digital fluency baked in. You’ll be responsible for managing copyrights, trademarks, music cue sheets, and licensing documentation across all of Skyship’s content and branded products. This includes everything from YouTube uploads to international product releases.

You’ll collaborate with our legal team, production team, product development, and licensing partners to ensure our IP is protected, monetized, and properly documented across platforms and regions.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES**

Once you’re up to speed on our catalogue, release schedules, and documentation systems, you’ll take ownership of:
**Music, Video & Series Content**
- Register copyrights for new music, music videos, and series episodes
- Maintain detailed release metadata (titles, composers, dates, credits, etc.)
- Produce cue sheets for non-YouTube releases and distribute to partners
- Assist in monitoring YouTube manual claims and unmonetized derivative content
- Conduct spot checks on royalty reports (SOCAN, Warner) to ensure full collection
- Track licensing deals and send cue sheets to broadcasters as needed

**Copyright, Trademark & Licensing Oversight**
- Coordinate with trademark counsel on new brand registrations
- Track and manage international copyright and trademark filings
- Maintain a database of copyright activity and licensing usage
- Create quarterly summary reports for the executive team
- Monitor YouTube’s evolving Content ID policies and update strategies accordingly

**Consumer Products & Licensing (Working with our Trademark and Copyright Counsel)**
- Maintain trademark tracking for all consumer products and partner approvals
- Coordinate border “white listing” and monitor global manufacturing schedules
- Work with licensing partners to resolve copyright or IP enforcement issues
- Monitor in-store and online retail for trademark and copyright compliance

**Cross-Team Collaboration**
- Help advise product and marketing teams on brand/IP strategy
- Provide feedback on new product concepts from a copyright/trademark lens
- Collaborate with legal counsel and creative teams to align business and brand goals

**KEY QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE**
- 2-5+ years in media, entertainment, or publishing with a focus on copyright, licensing, or IP
- Degree in Law, Media Studies, Business Administration, or a related field
- Strong understanding of copyright, licensing, and trademark administration
- Experience working with YouTube CMS, Content ID, cue sheets, and rights documentation
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Comfortable working with legal counsel and tracking contracts
- Experience in a production or post-production environment is a plus
- Must be qualified to work in Canada
