Small Machine Operator - Plastic

CMP Group Ltd., a leading provider of Marine Products, Construction, and Industrial solutions is seeking a Small Machine Operator - Plastic on a full-time temporary/ contract basis (until the end of April/ middle of June ) to join the Vaughan location/team.
- The Small Machine Operator is responsible for the hands on safe operation of equipment and safe practices throughout the facility regarding areas that they are working in. The operator follows standard operating procedures and work instructions to ensure the productivity and quality of production.
- Assists in trouble shooting and continuous improvement. Reports equipment and tooling conditions, operating and maintenance recommendations to ensure safe and efficient operating state.
- Open communication with teams and internal departments to ensure production and inventory levels are accurate and advise of any issues that may impact quality, timing or safety.
- Opens and completes work orders, documents production, and performs quality inspections.

**PAY**
- $19.26 per hour
- Opportunity for overtime when available

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**PRODUCTIVITY**:

- Set up and operate machinery as required for production
- Troubleshoot, inspect tooling using applicable tools and measuring devices
- Maintain tools and supplies in good working order
- Ensure that product identification, traceability, process control, packaging instructions are followed at all times
- Be proficient at operating equipment and meeting targets set by company
- Read and follow Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions
- Responsible for maintaining good housekeeping practices within area of responsibility. (6S)
- Report non-conformance of all production
- Performs accurate review of work orders.
- Meets or exceeds cycle times per work orders.
- Attends all crew talk meetings.
- Reports equipment and tooling conditions, operating and maintenance recommendations to ensure safe and efficient operating state.
- Cross Training in material handling and part packaging as required
- Understand and operate the company’s scanning wedge program
- Perform daily maintenance check sheet and set up sheets
- Lifting as required
- Including but not limited to other duties required by Lead Hand or Plant Manager.

**COMPETENCY**:

- Possess a basic understanding of equipment operation
- Ability to accurately inspect tooling using applicable tools and measuring devices
- Ability to troubleshoot effectively.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001.

**QUALITY**:

- Ensure the Company’s quality policies and procedures are strictly adhered to
- Perform quality inspections and meet standards.
- Maintain all measuring equipment, inspection fixtures and visual aids.

**SAFETY**:

- Promote safe work practices as outlined in the Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Strive for Zero-time lost accidents
- Adhere to all company safety SOP and equipment safety features

**TRAINING**:

- Participate in training as required by company or Lead Hand

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- 1 year of machine operation experience in the manufacturing industry
- 1 year of experience in performing set-up of all production equipment and operation of machinery
- 1 year of experience in inspecting tooling using applicable tools, measuring devices and troubleshooting
- 1 year of experience operating hand and power tools
- Ability to work under limited supervision in assigned area
- Comfortable standing for a long period of time and operating fast moving parts
- Comfortable lifting up to 50lbs.
- Willingness to assist by work in other departments within the facility when required
- Good communication, interpersonal and basic maths skills
- Open to quality cross-training and 6s training
- Safety boots

**HOURS**:

- Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 4:15 pm.
