**Research Coordinator**

**The Role**:
**Key Responsibilities-**
- Develops and maintains records of research activities, and prepares periodic and ad hoc reports, as required by investigators, administrators, funding agencies, and/or regulatory bodies.
- Prepares Research Ethics Board submissions, Privacy Impact Assessments and other necessary regulatory documents.
- Supports the development of research contracts and agreements.
- Contributes to the design of research proposals and undertakes literature reviews and provides syntheses and critical appraisal of existing evidence and develops summaries.
- Contributes to research activities such as survey development, data collection, and analysis.
- Drafts and coordinates submission of documents for management of project status such as for extension or pause of research activity.
- Drafts and coordinates submission of monitoring and project closure documents (e.g., ethics updates, financial and other reports to funding agencies).
- Manages documents and processes on SharePoint to ensure systems are set up to orderly archive and access relevant materials.
- Develops researcher resources (e.g., guidance on incorporating EDI into research, budget development/management tips)
- Other duties as assigned.
**Knowledge and Skills-**
- Effective project management, research and analytical skills including experience developing project schedules including milestones, timelines, deliverables, and reporting.
- Skill and expertise in conducting literature reviews, syntheses, and critical appraisals, sufficient to provide syntheses and critical appraisal of existing research-based evidence, and to develop summaries.
- Familiarity with provincial, Canadian, and international research funding agencies and programs, in particular Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
- Good working knowledge in managing references using a reference management software (i.e. Refworks, Mendeley).
- Office computer and data management skills with proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project 2010).
- Familiarity with SharePoint in order to manage documents and processes.
- Ability to manage and track research budgets.
- Planning, organizing, project management skills and initiative in order to work efficiently under conditions of multiple deadlines and changing priorities with meticulous attention to detail.
- Skill and ability to approach and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective interpersonal, teamwork and relationship building skills.
- Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.
**Education and Experience-**
- Master's degree in public health, social sciences or related discipline.
- 3-5 years' experience supporting research at an academic department, research institute or organization.
- Experience supporting research contracts an asset.
**Attributes and Competencies-**
- Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills to facilitate coordination and collaboration with internal and external project teams, reviewers, and funding agencies.
- Effective client service and relationship building skills are required, such as to coordinate and conduct complex primary data collection activities such as key informant interviews, observations or focus groups, and to lead thematic or other analysis to commiserate with qualitative approach.
- Maintains collaborative working relationships within the PHO and external collaborators in order to develop and execute a knowledge exchange plan.
- Represents PHO and promotes its mandate and strategic initiatives to external stakeholders and/or clients through presentations, attendance at conferences, and other activities.
