Irrigation Technician

Maple Ridge, Canada Atlas Irrigation Full time

Are you an experienced irrigation tech who wants real freedom in your day — because you know your stuff, make good calls, and get things done without being babysat?

Are you tired of being micromanaged, stuck in tight scopes, or working for companies that move slow and don’t trust their people in the field?

Do you take pride in your work and get frustrated working around people who cut corners or don’t care about doing things right?

Do you want to work for a company that actually operates differently — fixes problems now, backs its technicians, and expects you to think for yourself and take ownership?

**Who We Are**

At **Atlas Irrigation**, we operate differently than most irrigation companies.

We don’t tell customers we’ll be back in two months. We deal with issues now, especially emergency service calls, whenever possible.

Our customers trust us to take care of their systems properly, and we trust our technicians to make the right calls in the field. That trust is earned — and it’s central to how we operate.

**The Role**

We’re hiring an Irrigation Technician who operates with a field manager mindset.

At Atlas, technicians are not treated as task-based workers. You’re trusted to:

- Think through the whole system
- Decide what needs to be fixed immediately
- Decide what can be scheduled
- Balance great service with margin within the day

This is not a narrow, scope-bound role. It’s for someone who wants real responsibility and is comfortable being trusted to make decisions in the field. If you take ownership, think through tradeoffs, and follow through without being chased, you’ll succeed here.

The right person for this challenge takes pride in being who customers rely on when something goes wrong. You care deeply about the quality of your work, the outcomes you create, and the reputation you build through your actions.

**What You’ll Be Doing**

1. Delivering a Great Customer Experience
- Be the person customers trust and want back.
- Put the customer first in every interaction and build real rapport.
- Represent Atlas Irrigation professionally on every site.
- Take the time to understand the customer’s system and needs so problems are solved properly.

2. Own Service Delivery for Your Customer Base
- Manage all service work for an assigned customer base (approx. 200 accounts).
- Diagnose and repair residential and commercial irrigation systems efficiently and accurately.
- Respond to emergency service calls with a same-day mindset whenever possible.
- Identify root causes and fix issues properly, not temporarily.
- Decide what must be fixed immediately and what can be scheduled for a return visit.
- Make smart tradeoffs between customer needs, daily workload, and margin within the day.

3. Identify & Propose Additional Work
- Spot opportunities for repairs, improvements, and preventative upgrades.
- Know your client properties better than the customer knows them.
- Explain options clearly and recommend work that genuinely benefits the system.
- Close upsell work through trust-based recommendations.

4. Work Efficiently & Take Accountability
- Complete work efficiently without cutting corners.
- Track time, materials, and completed work accurately.
- Maintain your truck, tools, and job sites to Atlas standards.
- Flag larger issues, system upgrades, or improvement opportunities when identified.

**Who You Are**
- Independent & Trustworthy You’re comfortable making decisions without constant supervision and understand the responsibility that comes with autonomy.
- Service-Oriented You care about solving problems properly and leaving customers confident they were taken care of. You want to get done what needs to get done, today.
- High Standards You take pride in your work, your reputation, and the quality of outcomes you deliver.
- Thorough & Organized You don’t cut corners. You track details and keep your tools, truck and work tight.
- Accountable You don’t hide behind “that’s not my job.” If you’re there, you help solve the problem.

**What You Bring**
- Proven experience installing, servicing, and repairing irrigation systems (residential and commercial)
- Strong troubleshooting skills across valves, controllers, wiring, piping, and heads
- Solid technical and product knowledge
- Clear communication skills with customers and teammates
- Ability to work independently in the field
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
