**What we offer**
The Mattamy Homes Canada finance team’s vision is to be the best homebuilding and real estate development finance team in North America and the Manager, Finance (focus on Operations Finance) will be an integral member on this journey. This opportunity resides in the Ottawa division and is an exciting and highly visible role responsible for partnering with the homebuilding and land development operations in leading value-added initiatives across the business and ensuring accurate, predictable costs and margins. This role will interact with all levels of the organization (analysts, managers, directors, VPs, SVPs, Divisional President, etc.) and will be a trusted business partner for the division.
**What you’ll do**
- Foster strong working relationships across the businesses, supporting current activities and working proactively to identify opportunities for finance to act as a strategic business partner across homebuilding and land development.
- Provide exemplary leadership to your team, including coaching, performance management, training and development, and succession planning.
- Develop and improve on driver-based budgets for construction and land functions.
- Lead proforma pre-sale budget process to ensure accuracy, completeness, variance analysis and explanations.
- Analyze and identify trends in key performance drivers and oversee monthly variance analysis processes, including communication with corporate stakeholders and follow-ups with division owners
- Partner with construction, contracts and sales & marketing to perform cost / benefit analysis and margin modelling
- Support modeling for current and future acquisitions of land that go to the Board of Directors
- Work closely with the Corporate and Divisional Controllers to ensure that the ERP system is being leveraged to drive better decision making with operations
- Understand and lead financial implications of land allocation programs across regions
- Be key divisional contact for corporate stakeholders including leading meetings/presentations with executives
- Create and manage dynamic financial models, reports and presentations to support data-driven recommendations
- Partner with business groups to understand drivers and assumptions to improve forecasting accuracy as well as identify risks, opportunities and potential actions
- Ability to handle multiple competing deliverables at a time, with accurate, timely delivery and clear communication
- Lead quarterly builder bonus plan metrics and review the drivers of payouts
- Special projects and additional responsibilities as required
**What **y**ou **b**ring**
- University Degree, with a focus in Finance or Accounting, and designation (e.g. CA or CPA)
- Management experience with medium to large organizations is a must
- Excellent financial modelling and planning skills, with a track record and orientation towards continuous improvement
- Strong understanding of cash flows, ability to create cash flow modeling, intelligent forecasting methodologies including identifying drivers in the operations to improve cash and capital returns
- Sound judgment, with the ability to critically analyze situations, problem-solve, and deal with ambiguity
- Strong customer focus with excellent relationship building and a collaborative working style
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
- Ability to be hands on, detail oriented but also able to think strategically
- Demonstrates the highest level of ethics and personal integrity in their work and team
- Inquisitive nature to always be asking questions and works towards building trust and relationships
- Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills
