This role requires a deep understanding of underwriting, claims data analysis, risk management, various funding models, carrier fee structures, drug plan management, and benefits offerings including modular and cafeteria flex. The role involves setting underwriting policies, overseeing data analytics, and providing executive leadership in all aspects of underwriting and risk management. **Key Responsibilities** - Underwriting Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the underwriting team, developing underwriting policies and standards based on risk assessment, create process and direction. - Claims Data and Renewal Analysis: Oversee and lead the analysis of claims data, negotiate renewal processes, and negotiations. Use data to inform and influence strategic decision-making. Open to learning or implementation AI automation support tools - Drug Plan Management: Develop strategies for effective drug plan management. Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes that may impact drug plan design and delivery. - Funding Models and Fee Structures: Have a thorough understanding of various funding models and carrier fee structures to advise on the most suitable options for clients. - Data Analytics Oversight: Supervise the data analytics function, developing predictive models and other tools to optimize underwriting decisions and identify business opportunities. - Risk Management: Develop a robust risk management framework, implementing controls to mitigate risk and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. - Reporting: Oversee the creation of comprehensive quarterly and annual reports that accurately represent our financial status and underwriting trends. - Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with clients, insurers, specialty carriers, and regulators, providing expert advice and consultation on underwriting matters **Minimum Qualifications** - A minimum of 10 years experience in underwriting, preferably in group benefits. - A minimum of 5 years experience in a director or VP level leadership role. - Demonstrated experience in data analytics and claims data analysis. - Profound knowledge of Canadian insurance regulations, funding models, and carrier fee structures. **Preferred Qualifications** - Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Actuarial or related field. - Professional certification such as, CFP, LLQP, CEBS, CLU, CIP, CRM, or similar. - Proven track record in developing and implementing underwriting strategies, renewal processes, and drug plan management. - Proficient in the use of underwriting and data analytics software.
