Weekend Overnight Community Resource Worker

New Directions is a social service agency offering a wide range of resources and services that foster people’s hopes and dreams in their communities.
Cluster Housing is one of the many services offered by New Directions. Cluster Housing provides independent living supports to people who may have intellectual disabilities and/or mental health issues, and who experience barriers to living independently in the community. We are currently seeking a Part-time Community Resource Worker who can work overnights to join our Team.
The scheduling details for this position are**:Friday & Saturday 11pm-8am**
Job Responsibilities Include: (But are not limited to)
- Monitoring and securing housing buildings to ensure the safety of all tenants.
- Transporting self to various locations throughout the Winnipeg area during each shift.
- Ensuring visitors do not enter the buildings. (there is a no visitor policy)
- Responding to crisis situations and/or contacting 911 (if visitors do not leave or in case of emergency)
- Ensuring tenants do not damage the property.
- Conducting thorough regular and exit walk throughs of the buildings, reporting anything out of the ordinary, and ensuring doors are all locked, and the areas are secure.
- Completing detailed reports and shift logs upon completion of every shift.
- Empowering individuals to maintain independent living situations in a cluster housing model.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with people with intellectual disabilities is required.
- Experience working with people with mental health barriers preferred.
- Knowledge of FASD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Schizophrenia, Borderline Personalities, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder would be an asset.
- Experience working with people who are in conflict with the justice system.
- Effective problem-solving ability & strong communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license with access to a vehicle is a requirement for this position.
- First Aid/CPR and NVCI training will be provided.
