Due to continuing growth in our Engineering Design Organization, we are seeking a Construction Contract Administrator for any of our Waterloo, Markham, and Whitby offices.
GHD Canada works with provincial government, local regions, and municipalities with a variety of projects across the whole spectrum of conveyance, site servicing, earthworks, highways, roads, bridge infrastructure. Our team provides integrated engineering services throughout the project lifecycle from asset management, planning, detailed design, and engineering services for multi-discipline during construction.
**Responsibilities**:
- Responsible for Contract Administration of provincial and municipal infrastructure projects
- Liaise with the Project Managers, designers, field inspectors, contractors, and clients on a daily basis.
- Processing progress payments, change orders, submittals, RFI/RFQ, change directives, leading site meetings, preparation of minutes, and providing guidance to field staff in relation to construction contract documents.
- Work with the Construction Administration Team Lead in the overall management of project site staff and departmental initiatives.
- Work with Project Management staff to develop project policies and procedures related to quality, safety, the environment, and professional ethics.
- Conduct Constructability Reviews as required on projects.
- Liaise with Clients for future Construction work.
- Develop or verify the technical scope of a project, which may require onsite inspection
- Site inspection as required to support project needs
- Work closely with the engineering group to facilitate decision making related to the design changes
- Ensure the project contract documents are being followed by contractor (GHD/Client specifications, drawings and standards)
- Ensure quality controls processes are being followed
- Mentor and develop junior staff
- Represent GHD at Client meetings
**Your Skills, Competencies and Qualifications**:
- OACETT ‘C.E.T’ designation or, or Professional Engineers Ontario Designation as P.Eng or eligible to obtain within 1 year.
- Minimum of 6 years' experience in construction administration/senior construction inspector (or equivalent)
- Proven aptitude for estimating construction schedule, quantities, and costs.
- Proven experience with progress payments, change orders, submittals, RFI/RFQ, change directives, leading site meetings, preparation of minutes, and providing guidance to field staff in relation to construction contract documents.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills are a must.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Proficient with MS Word and Excel.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with colleagues, associates, and clients.
- Ability to effectively multi-task and work in fast paced, high change environment.
- Good initiative and attention to detail.
- Strong skills in conflict resolution
- Demonstrable experience in multi discipline construction projects
- Experience working in a Design Build environment considered an asset
- Detailed understanding of local Agency (or equivalent) Codes and Standards is considered essential
- Team building and mentoring skills
- Valid G driver’s license
