**Job Title**: Line Cook

**Reporting To**: Kitchen Manager
**Job Summary**:The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food to meet the restaurant’s standards of quality, taste, and presentation. This position requires a high level of attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining cleanliness and organization within the kitchen.
**Responsibilities**:
- Food Preparation & Cooking:
- Prepare and cook food to order, ensuring all dishes meet the restaurant's standards for quality, presentation, and taste.
- Follow standardized recipes and portion sizes to ensure consistency across all dishes.
- Ensure that all dishes are plated according to restaurant standards and are presented attractively to guests in a timely manner.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Collaborate with kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Be flexible and willing to perform additional tasks as needed (e.g., food prep, dishwashing, cleaning, etc.) to support team goals.
- Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff and expeditor to ensure timely and accurate delivery of orders.
- Cleanliness, Safety & Organization:
- Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure food is properly cooked and safe for consumption.
- Follow food safety standards including proper food storage, handling, and sanitation procedures.
- Operate kitchen equipment such as stoves, grills, ovens, fryers, and slicers in accordance with safety protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, cooking equipment, and utensils in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
- Ensure prep areas and cooking stations are properly stocked and ready for the next shift.
**Qualifications & Skills**:
- Previous experience as a line cook or in a fast-paced kitchen environment is required.
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety, and kitchen equipment.
- Ability to follow recipes and directions precisely while working efficiently under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality dishes.
- Ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively with colleagues.
**Certifications Required**:
- Safe Food Handler’s Certification Seen as an Asset
**Physical Demands**:
- Ability to stand for extended periods, often for the duration of a shift.
- Frequent walking, bending, and reaching to access ingredients, equipment, and workstations.
- Regular lifting and carrying of items up to 50 pounds, including food supplies and equipment.
- Working in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to ovens, stoves, and other high-temperature equipment.
- Manual dexterity for chopping, cutting, plating, and other food preparation tasks.
- Stamina to handle long shifts, particularly during busy service periods or events.
