CCI is a bridge between the 7,000 immigrants and refugees who come to Ottawa each year and the community. We provide programs and services to help newcomers settle and integrate. This position directs the ongoing programming, operational and administrative activities of CCI to assure successful and effective service delivery to clients in the Transitional Housing Department.
**This position reports to**: Chief of Programs

**MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
Under the direction of the Chief of Programs, the Director of Transitional Housing will:
- Provide ongoing advice to the Senior Leadership Team on strategic and operational issues
- Oversee day-to-day operations at multiple housing sites, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Respond to trends and standards in the field of immigrant services, and changes in government policies and legislation
- Ensure smooth operations through cohesive and responsible use of resources across Transitional Housing Department, and by creating and implementing the necessary systems and procedures for effective and efficient service delivery, in compliance with CCI’s operational and Human Resources’ policies.
- Oversee and monitor departmental operating budgets, according to the approved policies
- Provide leadership to Program Managers within the Transitional Housing Department.
- Actively promote and foster a high level of employee engagement
- Maintain ongoing and effective working relationships with funders and other external stakeholders
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment by providing training, development opportunities, and guidance.
- Conduct performance evaluations and address performance issues as needed.
- Perform other special projects and duties as assigned
**QUALIFICATIONS**
(Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills)
The Director of Transitional Housing understands and supports CCI’s mission and has knowledge of the newcomer market in Ottawa. This position requires strong communications and interpersonal skills, excellent organizational abilities and exceptional cultural competency. The Director of Transitional Housing must be a self-starter with initiative who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience with program development and delivery, and managing staff
- Experience overseeing program budgets
- Working knowledge of French would be an asset
- Post-secondary education in a human services field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Cross-cultural competence and demonstrated ability to function in a culturally diverse workplace.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to deal with confidential material and matters.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to perform duties independently or with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to function in a multidisciplinary, culturally diverse workplace.
- Proficiency and experience working with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
