Job Description: **ASSISTANT MANAGER, RETAIL** Swartz Bay Term Certain - 18 months Your passion is purchasing and your goal is creating revenue. As the Assistant Manager, Retail you develop and lead purchasing strategies in support of corporate revenue goals. You research and initiate purchasing strategies and develop the open to buy budget and purchasing time line. You have a strong purchasing background in fashion and outerwear, as well as the development of regional and branded programs. You source new vendors through industry research and trade shows. You manage supply chain and logistics, vendor standards and supplier performance. You manage shipboard and warehouse inventory levels. You constantly analyze financial data to evaluate consumer purchasing patterns and trends. You manage the competitive contract process and administer the department’s training and development budget. You research information and trends from a variety of sources, gathering and analyzing all relevant industry information regarding products, product safety, competitive merchandising, and industry practices. You develop merchandising planograms, and are able to initiate remedial purchasing and merchandising plans to meet budget targets. You are able to develop a committed, dynamic team of five. You are responsible for hiring and establish performance objectives. You have strong communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to work both independently and under pressure, prioritizing and coordinating multiple tasks concurrently. You are customer-focused and results-oriented with working knowledge of fundamental marketing and merchandising principles and techniques. You have comprehensive knowledge of loss prevention, customer services, sales, marketing, merchandising, and purchasing. You have five or more years’ experience in retail management as well as purchasing in a high volume, apparel/giftware/chain store environment. You have a diploma or degree in business administration, economics, purchasing, retail or equivalent combination of education and experience.
