As part of our growing production team, we are seeking a dedicated Blending & Packaging Assistant to support the formulation and packaging of our specialty fluids and industrial fluids.
**Role Overview**:
The Blending & Packaging Assistant is a vital support role within PIFL’s Operations Team. Working under the direction of the Blending Supervisor, this individual assists in preparing raw materials, supporting batch blending operations, and performing final packaging of finished goods. This hands-on position requires strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to follow exact instructions within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will work closely with Blenders, Packagers, and Quality Assurance to ensure that every product leaving our facility meets PIFL’s high standards for quality and accuracy.
**Your First 90 Days**:
**First 30 Days: Training & Onboarding**
Complete safety training (WHMIS, PPE, chemical handling, equipment use). Learn basic blending and packaging SOPs through guided instruction and job shadowing. Assist with staging raw materials, cleaning tanks/tools, and learning the flow of production. Support basic packaging tasks such as labeling, capping, and stacking drums and pails.
**Next 30 Days: Independent Support Work**
Accurately weigh and stage raw materials under supervision for blending. Assist in transferring blended fluids to packaging stations. Operate filling, sealing, and labeling equipment in compliance with batch records. Begin maintaining accurate records and performing quality checks on finished goods.
**Following 30 Days: Independence and Growth**
Work independently on assigned tasks and support multiple stages of the batch production cycle. Demonstrate efficiency, safety, and attention to detail in both blending and packaging tasks. Identify process improvements and contribute to continuous improvement efforts. Participate in production team huddles, 5S activities, and cross-training opportunities.
**Success Metrics for the First 90 Days and Beyond**:

- Accurate and timely staging of raw materials and packaging components.
- Error-free labeling and clean transfer of finished product from blender to container.
- Zero safety incidents; consistent use of PPE and adherence to SOPs.
- High-quality packaging with mínimal rework or defects.
- Team collaboration and reliability in meeting daily production goals.
- Positive feedback from blending and packaging leads regarding work ethic and support.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Assist in the weighing and staging of raw materials for batch blending.
- Support Blenders by preparing tanks, lines, hoses, and valves for fluid transfers.
- Clean blending and packaging equipment as per SOPs and safety protocols.
- Fill pails, drums, and totes using semi-automatic equipment.
- Label and cap finished goods according to customer specifications and regulatory standards.
- Perform basic quality checks on blends and packaged goods, flagging any discrepancies.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with 5S and GMP practices.
- Record material usage, batch numbers, and packaging completion data accurately.
- Report material shortages, equipment malfunctions, or safety hazards promptly.
- Support warehouse or logistics functions as needed (e.g., palletizing, wrapping).
- Participate in ongoing training and cross-functional support initiatives.
**Requisites**:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1+ year of experience in a manufacturing, production, or warehouse environment preferred.
- Comfort working around industrial chemicals and using PPE (training provided).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work on your feet, and perform repetitive tasks safely.
- Basic math and measurement skills (scales, volume, weight, etc.).
- Attention to detail, good communication skills, and a strong work ethic.
- Forklift license is an asset (training may be provided).
- Familiarity with blending, batching, or packaging is a strong asset.
