Red Deer Housing Authority is a Management Body under a _Provincial Ministerial Order_ that provides affordable housing and rent subsidies to over 800 households in Red Deer and the surrounding area. Red Deer Housing Authority is seeking an experience, creative and hands-on person, with general knowledge in maintenance and property management to join our team in a full-time role as **Maintenance Worker I**

**THE POSITION**

Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, your primary role relates to grounds keeping and facility maintenance. You will be responsible for maintaining lawns, collect and dispose of garbage, remove snow and ice, spread salt and sand, conduct building inspections, and assist tradespeople and other maintenance staff as needed. Your work must be done in accordance with set guidelines and standards. The position operates as a mobile employee and the incumbent will work at different locations in Red Deer and the surrounding communities.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Address exterior maintenance and grounds (i.e., lawn care, tree trimming and snow removal, cleaning of eavestroughs) as well as the repair of fences and sidewalk blocks.
- Attend to _Work Orders_ relating to minor plumbing repair; minor repairs on equipment; checks on equipment and disassembly of equipment for cleaning.
- Perform routine building inspections and maintenance of building systems that do not require specialized technicians.
- Review and monitor security cameras and security reports in and around the apartment complexes to ensure continued safety for tenants, staff and vendors.
- Deliver notices to tenants as required.

- Perform other related duties as assigned.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Capability to do physically demanding job requiring lifting, pulling, and managing heavy equipment. Must be able to lift 50 pounds in an indoor and outdoor work environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team and show initiative in taking on and completing new and challenging assignments within set deadlines.
- Knowledge of mechanical and HVAC systems and ability to safely use and maintain hand and power tools and equipment.
- A valid class 5 Alberta Driver’s License.
- A current, clear criminal record check.
