**Manager, Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) **who will be responsible for the effective direction, management and operation for prevention of avoidable healthcare associated infections (HCAIs) at all levels in the organization.

**Position Responsibilities**:

- Provide day-to-day operational leadership for the IPAC portfolio;
- Develop, design, integrate, and implement service plans and quality and performance measures aligned with program and organizational goals and objectives;
- Design and implement methods and techniques to monitor and continuously improve service delivery;
- Continuously monitor and improve service quality and avoid risks to prevent avoidable Health Care Acquired Infections (HCAIs) throughout the organization in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and professional standards that ensure safe and effective healthcare; assess and address risks;
- In partnership with senior leadership, develop and maintain organizational preparedness for current and emerging biological threats;
- Conduct frequent environmental scans to anticipate and promptly respond to changes in provincial, federal, and global legislation related to infectious diseases;
- Develop performance audit and feedback mechanisms to challenge professional and organizational barriers to staff compliance with IPAC guidelines and requirements;
- Develop and distribute reports to promote, measure and evaluate program services across the organization, and to patients and the public in accordance with Health Protection and Promotion Act.
- Develop and deliver educational materials and programs for clinical areas in compliance with Provincial Infectious Diseases Advisory Committee (PIDAC) requirements, aligned with annual goals and objectives to meet organizational commitment to quality and patient safety
- Monitor clinical staff job descriptions and job plans for mandatory inclusion of IPAC requirements in continuing professional development and appraisals

**Qualifications**:

- Baccalaureate degree in healthcare related area required.
- Registration as a regulated health professional required.
- A minimum of (5) five years of Acute care experience, and a minimum of (5) five years of leadership/management experience.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required. Risk management certification preferred.
- Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Greater Toronto Area (GTA) chapter membership in good standing
- Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) membership in good standing
- Society for Healthcare Epidemiology (SHAE) membership in good standing
- Membership with Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) and/or Current registration and membership in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) preferred.
- Exceptional analytical and information-seeking skills that contribute to effective decision-making and strategic planning and execution of action plans that deliver results and motivate individuals for greater performance excellence
- Ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders
- Track record for using research to create a quality and safety culture and means for monitoring and communicating results that is meaningful to team members and inspires continuous improvement
- Self-directed, courageous, and highly motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience managing competing demands in a fast-paced, multi-site, multi-disciplinary health care environment
- Demonstrated strategic approach with evidence of change management capability
- Knowledge and ability to facilitate meetings, conduct effective briefings and presentations both internally and externally with stakeholders who reflect the full range of diverse objectives
- Valid driver’s license required and access to reliable transportation for traveling across multiple sites.
- Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
