**About the Role**

We are seeking highly capable, hands-on Department Store Manager to lead the redevelopment, launch and operations of department stores (former Hudson’s Bay stores) located in AB, BC and Ontario. This is not a typical store manager role — we are looking for a builder, a team leader, and a community connector. You will be responsible for bringing our multi-format vision to life, integrating lifestyle retail, dining, wellness, and technology experience zones under one roof.

**Key Responsibilities**

Lead day-to-day operations of a 100,000-300,000 sq ft department store

Build and manage a high-performing cross-functional team: retail sales, customer service, operations, marketing and IT staff

Oversee the implementation and operations of multiple functional zones, including retail, lifestyle, food & beverage, entertainment, and experiential zones.

Partner with local and international brands to execute pop-ups, events, and activations

Supervise and manage store staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.

Ensure exceptional customer service, safety, and cleanliness across all store areas

Monitor performance metrics and drive sales, traffic, and operational efficiency

Maintain strong, professional relationships with landlords and property managers, including regular communication, issue resolution, and coordination on shared facility matters

Represent the store in the community, liaising with local organizations, schools, and event partners

Collaborate with head office on marketing, HR, finance, and tenant coordination

**Qualifications**

Minimum 5 years of experience managing a large-format retail store, department store, shopping centre, or comparable environment

Proven ability to lead diverse teams (30-100+ employees) in a fast-paced setting

Strong business acumen with experience in sales, expense control, and P&L oversight

Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills

Experience in experiential retail, community engagement, or mall activation is a strong asset

Multilingual ability (English + Mandarin) considered an strong asset
