Civil Construction Junior Estimator/Project Manager

Leighton Contracting (2009) Ltd. is seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic to fill the position of Civil Construction Junior Estimator/Project Manager. This full time, career position, requires experience in the field of heavy civil construction and/or construction management with a desire to learn and grow additional skills. We are committed to training and supporting the right individual in their career path to advance into a Project Management position.

Leighton Contracting is a locally owned and operated company with the majority of our work taking place in the Mid-Vancouver Island Region. This is a full-time position with flexible working hours based in our office located in the Comox Valley.

**Responsibilities**
- Work closely with the site foremen, superintendent and senior project manager developing project schedules and tracking project progress
- Prepare materials take-offs and coordinate materials procurement
- Coordinate and track quality control submittals
- Represent the company in meetings with clients and stakeholders
- Coordinate and manage project submittals
- Assist in preparing and managing sub-contracts
- Track project costs and quantities and submit monthly progress draws
- Coordinate survey layout and ensure construction drawings on-site are current and up to date

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education in the field of Civil Engineering or Construction Management
- Experience as a coordinator or supervisor in the field of civil construction.
- Excellent self-management and personal leadership skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- General knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing required.
- Strong ability to read and understand construction plans
- Ability to read and interpret contract documents & specifications, specifically the MMCD Platinum Edition and CCDC contracts
- Working knowledge of estimating software such as PlanSwift, HCSS HeavyBid, Carlson, and AutoCad
- Experience in surveying using Trimble GPS equipment
- Proficient knowledge of WorkSafe BC standards and policies
- Valid BC driver’s license
- Familiar with sanitary, storm, water & underground electrical installation
- Must have excellent team building skills
- Experience with construction layout using Trimble/Siteworks

**Compensation**
- $90,000 - $110,000 Depending on Experience
- Full extended health care package with dental and long-term disability

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $90,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
