Lead Carpenter in Training

The Junior Lead Carpenter is responsible for assisting the Lead Carpenter in supervising and coordinating carpentry projects, ensuring quality workmanship, and adhering to safety regulations. This role will involve hands-on work in the construction, installation, and repair of mostly interior residential homes. The Junior Lead Carpenter will be expected to mentor and provide guidance to less experienced carpenters and laborers.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Lead Carpenter in planning, organizing, and executing carpentry projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications to ensure accurate and efficient completion of projects.
Collaborate with the Lead Carpenter in determining project requirements, including materials, tools, and equipment.
Perform a variety of carpentry tasks, including framing, finishing, and installing fixtures, such as doors and windows.
Assist in the supervision and training of apprentice carpenters and laborers, providing guidance and mentoring as needed.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to safety regulations and company policies.
Inspect and assess the quality of completed work to ensure it meets industry standards and client specifications.
Communicate with clients, subcontractors, and team members to ensure smooth project progression.
Assist in the maintenance, repair, and storage of tools and equipment.
Continuously develop carpentry skills and knowledge by participating in training programs and staying updated on industry trends and best practices.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognized carpentry apprenticeship program is a plus.
A minimum of 3-5 years of carpentry experience, with a focus on residential and/or commercial construction.
Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a construction or carpentry setting.
Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and tools, as well as the ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and safety.
Physically fit and able to perform the demands of the job, including lifting heavy objects, standing for long periods, and working at heights.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
The Junior Lead Carpenter role offers an opportunity for an experienced carpenter to develop leadership skills and contribute to the success of the team.
