**Role Responsibilities**:
The French Language Services Branch (FLSB) supports the work of the Minister, the Ministry and the four francophone regional authorities (which manage a total of 46 schools) by playing a strategic role in French-language education and providing translation services. The FLSB provides support for the management and resolution of issues at the regional authority level. The FLSB provides a single-window approach for stakeholders wishing to communicate with the department. It facilitates discussions between key stakeholders and the various sectors of the department. Internally, the FLSB provides strategic advice on francophone stakeholder perspectives and informs Alberta Education's executive team about the local context and priorities of each francophone regional authority, as well as their common challenges. The FSLB strives to ensure that francophone education is equitable and supports access to francophone education for French first language students. It also it supports French-language education for French immersion and French second language students (core French).
**Responsibilities include**:
**Translation**:Translate a wide range of documents from English into French or French into English to support language equivalency in communications between the department and francophone regional authorities.
- Translate documents (e.g. administrative documents, reports, communications, Action Request responses) from English into French or French into English.
- Discuss with content managers as needed to ascertain the accuracy of content. Ensure all translated products conform to industry, ministry, division and branch specifications and standards**Editing**:Ensure professional editing of documents in French in accordance with required templates and style guides.
- Ensure editorial accuracy and consistency in writing style, spelling, punctuation, syntax, word usage and format.
- Clarify meaning and intent to provide the appropriate tone and language style to suit the intended audience.
