**Position**: Support Worker

**Location**: Amherst, NS

**Reports to**:Program Manager

CHHSA is a non-profit organization that provides services to homeless and precariously housed individuals in Cumberland County. **We are currently seeking support workers** for our daytime Community HUB and overnight shelter operations.

**Requirements**:

- Must be willing to submit a clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check
- Must have current First Aid and CPR,
- Must have a positive attitude, good communication skills, and be able to work with individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health issues and addictions.
- Must be willing to go above and beyond for my clients

**Other responsibilities include**:

- Recognizing and addressing potential emergency situations,
- Cleaning all areas of the shelter space on a regular basis
- Monitoring and recording client activities, encouraging pro-social bonding, client community, and life skills development, and providing calm and effective interventions,
- Establishing collaborative relationships with clients, using trauma informed practice.

Meal preparation

Knowledge of harm reduction principles,

Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism, boundaries and confidentiality,

Skills in human interaction, building relationships, and problem solving.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual
Part-time hours: 36 per week

**Salary**: $21.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 12 hour shift
- Day shift
- Night shift
- Weekends as needed

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Amherst, NS B4H 1X4: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
