Bakery Production Associate

As a Bakery Production Associate (Mixer/Rounder), you’ll be a key member of our bakery team, where precision, consistency, and creativity come together to craft exceptional, from-scratch baked goods. **Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Accurately measure and weigh ingredients according to standardized recipes.
- Mix ingredients to prepare doughs, ensuring consistency in texture and quality.
- Monitor mixing times and dough temperatures to maintain product standards.
- Operate and maintain industrial mixers and other bakery equipment.
- Use a variety of kitchen tools and baking equipment safely and efficiently.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly.
- Shape, round, and portion dough according to specific product requirements.
- Ensure consistency in size, shape, and appearance of all dough pieces.
- Assist in the preparation and baking of products as needed.
- Work in a high-volume, from-scratch production environment to meet daily goals.
- Maintain a full, colorful, and abundant showcase with proper product rotation and signage.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene protocols.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant workspace at all times.
- Follow and monitor sanitation checklists and log sheets.
- Support the Bakery Team Lead with daily kitchen functions and production schedules.
- Communicate effectively with team members and leadership to ensure smooth operations.
- Clean and maintain workstations, equipment, and bakery cases throughout the shift.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Lead or Market Manager.
- Ensure all ingredients and final products meet Sunterra’s high-quality standards.
- Demonstrate growing product knowledge, including awareness of changes, promotions, and seasonal trends.
- Ensure all standardized recipes are followed without deviation and report any discrepancies.
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and supplies.
- Assist in inventory management to ensure uninterrupted production.

**Qualifications**:

- Previous experience in a bakery or food production environment preferred.
- Previous experience in food preparation or customer service is an asset.
- A genuine interest in food, ingredients, and culinary trends.
- Strong understanding of dough mixing, shaping, and handling techniques.
- Ability to follow recipes with precision and consistency.
- Familiarity with bakery equipment and kitchen tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging demeanor.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and eager to learn.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
- WHMIS and Food Safety certification (training provided by Sunterra).
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices.

**Working Conditions**:

- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Exposure to cold and wet conditions in refrigerated environments.
- Repetitive lifting (up to 40 lbs; team lift required for heavier items).
- Use of sharp tools, slicers, and other kitchen equipment.
- Frequent reaching, bending, and occasional use of ladders or stools.
- Variable temperatures and surfaces typical of a commercial kitchen.
- Fast-paced, collaborative, and quality-focused production environment.
