The **Jr. Innovator, Prototyping** is a unique and a critical role within the Innovation LAB team and is responsible for executing on prototyping for innovation projects, to make innovation ideas and concepts come to life. In essence, the **Jr.** **Innovator, Prototyping** will be transforming often ambiguous innovative concepts and designs into working physical prototypes, using a broad range of prototyping equipment, manufacturing techniques and materials that go well beyond those commonly used for in-line manufacturing. The scope of work ranges from operating and ensuring proper maintenance of prototyping equipment, to hands-on creation of advanced system and wearable garment principles and prototypes. **Key Responsibilities**: - Bring innovation concepts to life, from design, through patterns and into prototypes. - Interpret design concept and sketch and create/modify BOM accordingly; prepare trims and fabrics and keep track of lab material inventory; - Build component, mock-ups and full-garment prototypes for the Innovation LAB and for review by the Goose Advanced Innovation Team (GAIT) - Build physical prototypes for advanced non-apparel concepts to demonstrate future concepts ideas - Utilize and maintain prototyping equipment in the Innovation Lab Workshop - Work closely with Innovation LAB team and inline partners to communicate technical details of advanced prototypes built - Support the team to evaluate and source new machinery as requested and ensure knowledge is up-to-date and current. - Other administrative tasks such as placing raw material request, sample shipping arrangement, inventory tracker updates **Experience, Education and Designations**: - Undergraduate degree required, advanced degree preferred in product engineering, industrial design and/or prototype technician - 3 years’ experience in hands-on building concepts, prototypes and/or product development, preferably in fashion industry - 3 years’ experience with garment pattern making, sewing and bonding, preferably in outerwear - Experience and knowledge of Gerber Accumark or other CAD system for patternmaking, knowledge of grading and marker making will be an asset, preferably with certificate of designation - Excellent understanding of garment constructions, measurements, reading BOM and technical garment specification **Knowledge, Skills and Attributes**: - A passion for making, inventing new ideas and solving complex problems - Good verbal and written communication skills required to work in partnership with Concept Design, Materials, Research and Creative Technology to communicate prototyping details. - Knowledge of traditional garment construction and curious about creating new standards - Knowledge of Clo3D and other digital modelling tools will be an asset - Extended knowledge and interests in new construction methods and manufacturing technology, like additive manufacturing methods (i.e. 3D printing) - Routine machine maintenance - Strong ability to work from scratch, from first rough mock-ups to working prototypes - Must have a solid understanding of fabrics, garment construction and fit, including the ability to fit on live models and translate to flat pattern. - Able to work in a fast-paced environment, dominated by constantly evolving innovation driven ideas and initiatives - Problem solving skills to logically work through new fabric and construction concepts - Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently - Ability to prioritize day to day work activities according to the department/business needs and Goose Advanced Innovation Team deadlines and quarterly updates **Working Conditions**: Office and Prototyping facility environment Some travel may be required (
